  4. Collisions • All collisions between objects that conserve momentum are divided into 3 categories • Completely Inelastic: object stick together after collision • Inelastic: object bounce off each other • Elastic: objects bounce off each other AND Kinetic energy of the system is conserved

  6. How does it do damage • A small explosive charge is surrounded by metal filings, spheres, nails…. • When the charge explodes, it transfers energy to each piece of shrapnel, with move in all directions from the core.

  13. Example of auto accident • A 1209 kg car traveling north at 12.7 m/s strikes a 2378 kg Truck traveling 10.3 m/s east. The ground is extremely icy and level. • If the wreckage sticks together, how fast will it move and in what direction • If car and truck stay intact, and the truck moves 11.0 NE, what speed and direction will the car move?
