Reasons for Settling the Coastal Plain

  • England and Spain in the 1500’s: Competitive, Desire to settle North America
  • Queen Elizabeth I of England: Sir Walter Raleigh and John White

  • Build new homes and repair old ones
  • Too late in the season to plant crops?
