  2. - No voluntary consent given to be medicated - Limited ability and significant cost to opt out - No medical supervision of dose or effects of medication Medical Ethics “The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. “ - The Nuremberg Code Of Medical Ethics (1947)

  3. A Pea Size amount of Tooth Paste contains 0.25mg - equivalent to 250 ml of tap water at standard fluoridation levels (1ppm)

  4. W.H.O Guidelines for drinking water quality “there is clear evidence … that skeletal fluorosis and an increased risk of bone fractures occur as a result of long-term excessive exposure to fluoride (total intakes of 14 mg fluoride per day), and evidence suggestive of an increased risk of bone effects at total intakes above about 6 mg fluoride per day” “In countries such as the Scandinavian countries, where public dental awareness is very high and alternative vehicles for fluoride (e.g. tooth paste) are widely available and widely used, a decision not to replace fluoride removed from the drinking water would be of no consequence” . 5. Australia SOURCE: World Health Organization. (Data online)

  9. Fluoride & the Brain National Research Council (2006): “It is apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.”

  10. Advice from the American Dental Association: "If using a product that needs to be reconstituted, parents and caregivers should consider using water that has noorlow levelsof fluoride."SOURCE: American Dental Association, Nov 9, 2006

  11. Arvid Carlsson2000 Nobel Prize winner for Medicine “One wonders what …an increase in the exposure to fluoride, such as occurs in bottle-fed infants …may mean for the development of the brain and the other organs…” 1978

  12. Human studies • There are23 published studies(from China, Iran, India and Mexico) indicating that moderate to high fluoride exposure is associated with lowered IQ in children • See FluorideAlert.org/brain

  13. Medical Benefit of a 60% Reduction In Dental Caries? SOURCE: Republic of Ireland detail caries data, “WHO Guidelines for drinking water quality” Medical Benefit? 0.6 of a tooth surface…..out of 128 tooth surfaces! Studies in Australia (Spencer et al., 1996; Armfield and Spencer, 2004) have found even less saving than this

  14. Benefit In Drinking Fluoride? • “Its actions primarily are topicalfor both adults and children." • Centers for Disease Control, 1999 • "Fluoride's predominant effect is posteruptive and topical." • Centers for Disease Control, 2001

  15. Dr. ARVID CARLSSON • - 2000 Nobel Laureate in medicine – “In pharmacology, if the effect is local (topical), it's awkward to use it in any other way than as a local treatment. I mean this is obvious. You have the teeth there, they're available for you, why drink the stuff?”

  16. Smell a rat, anyone? Sodium Fluoride is the key ingredient in many rodent poisons.

  17. Where does the fluoride used come from? When producing phosphate fertilisers for agriculture, by-product created is fluoride, which is prevented from escaping into the atmosphere with ‘wet scrubbers’. This industrial waste is not safety tested and is typically contaminated with lead, arsenic, cadmium, and other heavy metals.

  18. An Efficient Delivery Method For Medication?

  19. Conclusions - Mass, arbitrary medication is in breach of medical ethics - Benefits Topical NOT Systemic - Proven potential adverse medical effects - Industrial waste, in your water, at your expense - Monumentally inefficient delivery ….and all this for less than 0.6 of a tooth surface If in doubt, KEEP IT OUT!
