TEACHER TRAINING • A seminar was carried out by the company ‘PROMITHEAS’ for all teachers regarding the effective use of the interactive boards. • Seminars for all colleagues for the use of Dropbox and the Edmodo platform. • A training course for all teachers regarding the PREZI programme was conducted by the Pedagogical Institute.

COMPUTER SCIENCE • A’ grade : Students learn how to handle and edit files and documents using Microsoft Word, how to use the browser for internet search, how to use and handle electronic mail, how to draw and editimageswith Paintandhow to create simple graphic applications employingScratch. • B’ grade: Students learn how to handle spreadsheets within the Excel, how to use applications of interactive communications , for ex. Skype, how to create their own website and make graphic applications using Aliceand preparing presentations using PowerPoint. • C’ grade: Students learn to create and manage databases by using Microsoft Access, use the Diagram Creator and create their own simple applications with the use of the Visual Basic language.

  21. Blog creation: Break the wall: Talks about racism and xenophobia Students participated in a competition organised by the school and created their own blog, electronic newspaper and documentary which included student’s interviews from other countries

  22. HISTORY Teachers and students use Powerpoint presentations very often. Students search in the internet in order to create their own projects. In addition, documentaries or other historic sources are presented to make the lesson more interesting.

  27. MATHEMATICS Geogebra, Graphi and Mathtype are being used

  28. HOME ECONOMICS Students use mobiles and computers (Movie Maker, Audacity, Word and Power point) in a number of diverse projects and activities.

  29. MUSIC: AN EXAMPLE OF A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH THE USE OF ICT Students collected recycled materials and with the use of mobile phones they transformed the collected material into musical instruments. The project was enriched with sound effects and electronic sounds made on computers.

WHAT WE HAVE GAINED SO FAR …. • ICT offers the opportunity of a meaningful communication between Teacher-students; student -student at any time. • Class becomes more attractive to students. • It provides teachers the chance to communicate and advise the students about their work during non-school hours. • It facilitates personalized learning. • It give us the opportunity to answer any questions students may have during their homework. • It gives the opportunity to students who may be absent, to participate, to be active.

  32. Questions based on our goals: • How can we help all teachers and students to achieve more effective teaching/learning by using ICT? How does this ultimately help us as a school? • How can we (further) challenge, encourage, train and update (more) teachers, students and parents to use technology as a tool for communication? • How do we further share practice? • How do teachers and students perceive all the efforts and activities that are being done through the LSL programme and how effective is it for them? What is each one’s role?

THE USE OF ICT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING • Teacher training - UPDATE • Teach students how to work on group projects from home with the use of the PREZI Program. • Use of the site WORDLE, where one can select/write a paragraph which can be transformed into a poster format. • Creation of LiteratureBlog “Reading Club”. • Use of GoogleHangeoutsfor the COMENIUS European programme. • Blog Creation

THE USE OF ICT AS A TOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND COOPERATION • - Encourage the use of Edmodo by parents. • - Invite parents to relevant common activities • - Use of Dropbox by all teachers • - Create a Twitter school account for continuous communication • - Creation of personal websites by all teachers that are involved • - Focus on student feedback/voice in different levels

ICT EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING SPACES • Organise activities in order to raise fundsto buy additional interactive whiteboards, computers, tablets and projectors • Upgrade the equipment in the multimedia room • Upgrade the equipment in all special rooms • Enrich school’s educational software • Create informal learning spaces
