  1. DGGS/DGSB Music Trip 18th - 24th July 2013 Lake Garda

  2. Tour overview We will meet at DGGS on Thursday 18th July at 3.30pm and arrive at our destination in the late morning of Friday 19th July. We will stay somewhere near Lake Garda for four nights, and will start to return home after midday on Tuesday 23rd July to arrive at DGGS early morning on Wednesday 24th July. ETA at DGGS is 08:30hrs 24th July 2013

  3. Tour objectives • On our tour, students will: • Perform Three Concerts as part of a regional music festival. • Visit iconic sites in and around Lake Garda. • Visit Venice (or Verona) • Learn a little about Italian culture and the language. • Have fun making music as a group.

  5. ITINERARY Day 1:Thursday, 18 July 2013 Pupils in school until 11.00. Head teachers will then let students home to prepare, pack and make it back to DGGS by 3.30pm 15:30 hrs Meet at school to load luggage ready for departure. We would suggest that the group take provisions from home for the journey and suitable stops will be made en route as necessary. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. 16:15 hrs Depart School 16:25 hrs Check in at P & O Ferries Terminal Dover 17:25 hrs Depart Dover 19:55 hrs Arrive at Calais (local time)

  6. Day 2:Friday, 19 July 201313:00 hrs Anticipated arrival at (hotel) where the group will spend the next 4 nights with half-board accommodation. Un-pack and settle into hotel. 18:00 hrsRehearsal in Hotel20:00 hrsEvening meal will be served at the hotel 21:00 hrsRemainder of the evening at leisure in hotel. Staff will organise games – perhaps the horse racing game or something similar. 22:30hrs Lights Out

  8. Day 4:Sunday, 21 July 2013 Continental breakfast will be served at the hotel. 10:00 hrsMorning visit to Malcesine. Malcesine Cable Car For a spectacular view over Lake Garda there is nothing to beat a ride on the Malcesine cableway, which rises to 1600 m in just ten minutes and reaches an altitude of 1760 metres at the top of Monte Baldo. 13:30 hrs Return to the hotel for hot lunch instead of evening meal due to concert timing. 15:00 hrs Depart the hotel and continue to Nago. 17:00 hrs Sightseeing inNago 20:00 hrsArrive at concert venue Piazzola 21:00 hrsPerformance commences 22:00 hrs Performance ends Return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 6:Tuesday, 23 July 2013 08:00 hrsContinental breakfast will be served at the hotel (last meal included in the tour cost). 10:00 hrsVacate rooms and load luggage onto coach. 11:30 hrsDepart the hotel and continue the journey to Calais. Day 7: Wednesday, 24 July 2013 06:15 hrs Check in at P & O Ferries Terminal Calais 07:45 hrsDepart Calais 08:15 hrs Arrive at P & O Ferries, Dover Terminal (local time) 08:30 hrs Anticipated arrival back at school

  13. Packing • Please bring 1 suitcase/holdall only. • Clothes to travel (loose and comfortable) • School uniform for concerts. • Smart casual clothes for 4 days. • Toiletries. • Backpack and sun hat. • Camera, ipod, mp3 etc. • Travel pillow. • Although towels are provided you may wish to bring your own. • Suntan cream, mosquito repellent, bite cream after sun etc,

  14. Money • The currency in Italy is the euro. • We recommend that students take between £50-£80 worth of euro's with them on the visit. Evening snacks/lunches will need to be paid for on Saturday, Sunday and Monday when we are away from the hotel in the evening.
