Week One of Summer Fun 2014

Bible Story: Philip and the Ethiopian

Theme: Chariots, Wheels, and Vehicles

After Gathering Time, we go outside from 9 – 10:45 a.m. We play and learn, get exercise and fresh air, and enjoy God’s creation.

Water Play promotes conversation and scientific discoveries about

the properties of water and whether items will sink or float.

In our Bible story, the Ethiopian was baptized. The shells remind

us of our Baptism. These girls were pretending to baptize

by saying “in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Fun with Fish

Art and PuppetsWe painted with cars and painted with orange soap paint. Puppet shows drew audiences of teachers and friends.
time for snack we made wheels by cutting bananas yum
Time for snackWe made wheels by cutting bananas. Yum!

Those water bottles help us stay

hydrated. Other snacks during the

week included yogurt, popcorn, stop

lights(vanilla wafers with red, green

and yellow frosting).

Cutting bananas is

good exercise for

those writing and

drawing muscles and

helps with hand/eye

coordination.

slide5

Writing practiceSome students were writing names and words, others used pretend writing to take orders for the restaurant. Teachers were favorite customers.

slide6

Art is more fun outside!Drawing on cardboard is better than paper which might blow away. Plus we get to share and collaborate as we draw together on the same piece.

slide7
Tools and buildingStudents enjoyed pretending to repair the play equipment. Blocks can come outside, too. Time to build a castle.

Saw, pound, drill,

sand – we’re increasing

our vocabulary.

We are pirates!

Let’s have a pet ant!

These girls aren’t

afraid of letting

one crawl on them.

EG: “Ants

are God’s

I love them

and they

love me.”
