She angered Athena, who turned her into a hideous monster with hair of snakes.

AKA- Proboscis worms/Ribbon worms (long proboscis held in sheath called a rhynchocoel) • Commonly found in mud and sand • Free living- carnivorous (eat other worms and crustaceans) • Complete digestive tract! (mouth & anus) • Circulatory system of blood vessels- but no heart • Dioecious- external fertilization • Glide on mucus (with help of cilia) • Includes some of the longest known invertebrate animals (30 m+)

  5. Phylum Gastrotricha • Free living in marine and freshwater (bottom dwellers) • Tiny! (only 0.01 - 4 mm) • Usually have a forked tail (with adhesive glands) • Brain! • Digestive system: mouth/pharynx, stomach, intestine, anus (*however- digestion is mostly extracellular) • Cilia for movement • Marine species = sexual • Freshwater species = asexual
