  1. Zakopane

  2. Zakopane is a small town picturesquely situated in the southern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia.

  3. Zakopane is often called the capital city of Polish mountains and the centre of mountain hiking and skiing.

  4. Local population is only about 30000, but every year Zakopane is visited by a staggering more than 2 million tourists.

  5. The most reprezentantive street of Zakopane is Krupówki. It begins below the mountain Gubałówka and runs by more than one kilometer of promenade to the south.

  6. Along this street the mountaineers offer tourists many attractions like photo next to the bear or going by cab or sleigh.

  7. Others make money by selling regional things: cheese called „oscypek”, articles from wools and skins of sheep and from wood.

  8. Aquapark in Zakopane is a very modern complex of swimming pools. The additional attraction is chute called „Wild River”.

  9. Zakopane is famous for one of the most beautiful natural ski jump in the world called Great Krokiew.

  10. Regulary, since 1997 the competitions of FIS World Cup have been helt, with the world’s ski jumpers and our leading star Adam Małysz.

  11. Morskie Oko is the biggest and the most famous lake in Tatry. It’s situated in walley of Rybi Potok on height 1395 metres above sea level.

  12. Everyday even twenty thousand people visit this place althought they must go on foot to the shelter – home over 9 km.

  13. Some of them can take britzka or the sleigh with horses.

  14. In neighbouring forests we can meet some kinds of animals, for example: bears, squirels and woodchucks.

  15. Giewont is a mountain massif in the Tatra Mountains in Poland and it is 1984 metres above the sea level. It comprises three peaks: Small Giewont, Great Giewont and Long Giewont.

  16. On Great Giewont, there is a 15 metres steel cross, that is the site of many religious pilgrimages.

  17. According to Polish folklore this mountain is associated with a legend about sleeping knights, who will awake when Poland is in danger.
