  1. The effects of dust storm on the phytoplankton community in Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf MahnazRbbaniha, Fereydoonowfi, KhosroAienJamshid Iranian Fisheries Research Organization International Conference on Oceanography and Sustainable Marine Production: Challenge of Managing Marine Resources Under Climate Change (INOC / ICOSMAP – 2013) (Malaysia, October 2013)

  2. The list of main factors affected on phytoplankton community • The variation of physical factors, such as: temperature ( global warming), • Increased of nutrient waters: The sea current, upwelling The urban and industrial swages and pollution Dust storm • Increased of bacterial processes

  3. The study area

  4. Global warmingSW Eurasian-Land Warming Warming of SW Eurasia mirrors the global-land signal, but recent warming anomalies are >50% larger than global temperature trends

  5. Some factors that affected on the environmental changing in area: - Increasing of desertification &drought in area for example: The drying process of Uremia lake in the northeast of IranIncreased of desert ( 21% ) in southern provinces of Iran. -Increase the productivity of resources following the population growth . for example: Bushehr population was 694252in 2001 that increased to 1032949 in 2012( 67%)

  6. 2013 2000

  7. The increased of water temperature in Bandar Lengeh-Iranian waters ( Persian Gulf)

  8. The reports of dust storm fro area During several years ago, numerous reports of dust storm from the regional countries have been observed. It can be noted that the following: - A large dust storm in Pakistan on June2007. - A sandstorm in the Kingdom of Bahrain on February2009. - A massive dust storm in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March2009. - A dust storm in Iraq on July 2009 that traveled toward the southeast and over the Persian Gulf and sweeps over eastern Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and much of the Persian Gulf. - A dust storm swept through Kuwait on March 2011. Dust is thickest over northern Saudi Arabia, southern Iraq, and Kuwait—the latter being completely covered by dust plumes. Dust also hides the northwestern shoreline of the Persian Gulf. -An extreme dust storm n the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on February2012. Due to the source of all dust storm in the area from the some neighbors’ countries such as: Iraq, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deserts and according to the Physical, environmental and Economic effects of dust storm, it is suggested to simultaneously this survey will be done in others country.

  9. Dust Storm in southern of Iran From 2001 till now, Dust Storm were happened 156 times in Iranian southern provinces that current from Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria. The main resources was the Iraq central area. In each time it carried the areoles with different density for example in 2007 it was reported 9360 µgr/m3.

  11. The dust storm affected on phytoplankton growth

  12. Some reports of regional phenomenon • 36 times red tide in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea from 2001-2012 ( included : Nitzschia، NoctilucaTrichodesmium, Oscilatoria,Cochlodinum polykirokoides) • Mortality of marine animals in Iranian coastal waters and social economic harms –in southern provinces.

  13. Cochlodinum polykirokoides size30-40 μm

  14. The variation of phytoplankton groups Dionphycea was increased trough the several month

  15. The result of GAM on Dinophyceae group> model<-gam(Dinophyceae~s(Temperature)+s(Salinity)+s(Transparency))Family: gaussian Parametric coefficients: Estimate Std.
