Weeks of November 19th and 26th • Mrs. GrandonNext two weeks in 116: • Phonics – words ending in –le and hard and soft c and g • Math – subtracting two digits, with and without regrouping (borrowing), rewriting subtraction problems from horizontal to vertical, using addition to check subtraction. This week’s math facts: 2+8, 8+2, 6+8, and 8+6 • Reading–”African American Inventors” (nonfiction) compare and contrast, suffixes ful, and less, reading timelines • English – using present and past tense verbs correctly, the special forms of be • Health – nutrition • Social Studies –understanding different kinds of communities and what makes a community successful • Handwriting– Upper and Lower Case Xx, Yy and Zz Reminders and Notes: Needed for Health project Thanksgiving week: Paper towel rolls, panty hose, and knee high panty hose. Our Math Sale will be taking place on November 21st. If you have any old toys, crafts, books…. that you would like to donate, they would be greatly appreciated. Book Bingos are due on the 30th. Thanks for returning the report card envelopes so promptly. Please turn in the permission slip and $5.00 for Mrs. Boyd’s music field trip as soon as possible. Permission slip and $5.00 for the McKinley field trip are due on the 19th. We leave on Tuesday the 20th. Don’t forget to pack a sack lunch. Halle was our star student. Thanks for doing such a great job Halle. Colten will be our star student the week of November 26th. Congratulations to Olivia and Ethan. They represent our class for Jump the River on Wednesday at 12:45. We had a great field trip to The Portage Lakes Career Center and learned a great deal about nutrition.

We have a class of character! • Because of their generosity for the “Paws for a Cause” during Right to Read Week, the second graders at Nolley School collected the most money for The American Cancer Society. They will be awarded a movie and popcorn next week for their efforts. • Our class was recognized as the best behaved during the Principal’s Award Ceremony last week. • The students emptied the marble jar of kind deeds again! They earned an extra recess last Friday and they decorated some cupcakes this week to celebrate. Review unit Week of 11- 19 Reminder: No Spelling homework for review units if a 100% is earned on the pretest Monday. Anyone that does not earn a 100% only have the Spelling Contract to practice their words for the post test.
