  9. Muscular system • Provides movement for the body • Maintains posture • Generates heat • Stabilizes joints

  10. Skeletal Muscle • Attached to bones • Contract to pull bones • Under voluntary control

  11. Cardiac Muscle • In the walls of the heart • Involuntary control

  12. Smooth Muscle • Found in hollow organs such as the stomach, intestines, and bladder • Involuntary control

  13. Pre-Lab Questions • Use your notes from the previous day to complete the pre-lab question • Put pencils down when everyone at table is ready

  14. Dissection SAFETY: -Goggles -Apron -Hair tied back We are working in partners/groups of 3 today. RESPONSIBILITIES: A- Lab Director/Clean Up Manager B- Recorder/Materials Manager

  15. Dissection – Recording Observations • Raw chicken can carry salmonella – a bacteria that can make you very sick. • So.. Recorder will take observations during lab, and the rest of the group will have time after clean-up to use Recorder’s notes to complete their own worksheet. • Recorder still wears gloves, goggles, and apron! Can still work with tools but MUST wash hands before touching writing utensil/recording observations

Clean Up Directions • Keep your goggles, gloves, and aprons on until teacher collects chicken • Clean Up Manager: Wash EVERYTHING: trays, scissors, scalpels, tweezers • Materials Managers: Countertops should be wiped down with disinfectant • Recorders: Make sure everyone has completed the observations • Lab Director: Check station to make sure everything is back in place • EVERYONE: WASH HANDS!!!!!!!!!
