  4. Theatre Production The Magic Well by Herman Ammann Tidwell swept the competition at this year’s UIL One-Act Play Competition! Way to go!!!!!

  5. Varsity Band Symphonic Band students earned Superior Ratings from all 3 judges on stage and an Excellent Rating in the Sight Reading room. Wind Ensemble students earned Superior Ratings from all judges and were awarded a Sweepstakes Trophy. Tidwell Band performing at football game.

  6. Brahms Orchestra Brahms and Mozart Orchestra students earned both Superior and Excellent ratings from their recent performances at Orchestra UIL.

Previous orchestra experience is required. *Director Approval Required__________ *______88311 Media This class is designed to develop skills that may include researching information for news reports and develop skills that are necessary for careers in the field of journalism. *An application is required for consideration: Applications are located in the Counseling Office and are due no later than March 27, 2014. ______85331 Advanced Theater Arts This class requires previous theater experience. ______85340 Foundations of Art Art is a project-oriented class which introduces students to hands-on activities utilizing line, color, design, illustrations, sketching, painting, and shading techniques. _____ 88312Skills for Living / Family Consumer Science This class introduces students to career investigations as well as basic life skills, including budgeting, cooking, sewing, health, and independent living. Students will be responsible for supplying some of the instructional materials for this class, not to exceed $50, as materials such as recipe ingredients and sewing notions are required for lessons. ______85330 Theater Arts This class is designed as an introduction to theater, drama, public speaking, and stage design. ______88302Teen Leadership The class enables individuals to build personal responsibility, and leadership skills through group activities, role plays, speeches and projects. ______87300Introduction to Spanish This course is designed to introduce the basic components of the Spanish language as well as the cultural aspects and customs of Spanish speaking countries. ______ 88013 Exploring Careers / Career Portals Students work in rotations, exposing them to many different careers. A few of the careers they explore are: Computer Graphics and Animations, Flight Technology, Engineering Towers and Robots. Modules are delivered through a combination of hands-on activities in a cooperative learning environment.

  19. Electives: Please number your choices of electives from 1 to 8, with 1 being your first choice. Please understand that if your first selection is full or cancelled, you will be placed in the next available course. Priority is given to those who return the completed Registration Form by the due date. * You must obtain teacher signature if it is required or you will not be assigned to that class. Students are not required to take PE or Athletics if they took PE/Athletics in 6th and 7th grade. *______86370 / 86371 Athletics A physical from an acceptable health resource is required for this course. Students in athletics must participate in competitive sports. Boys’ sports include football, basketball, cross country, and track. Girls’ sports include volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track. If a student does not make a team after a tryout period, the student will go through training in an off-season program. If a student did not maintain eligibility or demonstrate acceptable behavior, interest, or aptitude as a seventh grader, they will not be placed in this course and will take P.E. Students must maintain passing grades each six weeks to be eligible to participate. * Coach Approval Required_______­_____________ ______86360 Physical Education This class involves students in a regular fitness awareness program, including group activities and individual development. Goals include development of sportsmanship, awareness of others, team effort, and social skills. Changing into gym clothes daily is a requirement.

Students must have an 85 average in Language Arts or successfully completed Intro to Spanish. * Language Arts or Spanish Teacher Approval _________________ **______0700M Health (1/2 HS elective credit) Students will study nutrition, first aid, safety, and emergency care, as well as, physical and community health and fitness. This is a semester class and is taken in conjunction with Communications Applications. **______0045M Communications Applications (1/2 HS credit; satisfies Speech credit for graduation) This course includes using appropriate interpersonal communication strategies, effective group communications, and the ability to deliver and evaluate formal and informal presentations. This is a semester class and is taken in conjunction with Health.

Students will be responsible for supplying some of the instructional materials for this class, not to exceed $75, as materials such as recipe ingredients and sewing notions are required for lessons. * Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed Consumer Science I. * Teacher Approval Required________
