  3. TEACHER & PARAPROFESSIONAL TRAININGS • DISTRICT PROVIDED: • AUTISM 101 TRAINING- THIS IS OPEN TO SPECIAL ED. TEACHERS, REGULAR ED TEACHERS, PRINCIPALS, ASST. PRINCIPALS & PARAPROFESSIONALS. USUALLY IN LATE JULY. • BEGINNING OF SCHOOL TRAINING- OPEN TO TEACHERS & PARAS IN OUR AUTISM PROGRAM ONLY! • MONTHLY MEETINGS- JOB EMBEDDED, WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOES NOT, STAFFING OF STUDENTS, TEACHER SOUNDING BOARD. PARAS 2-3 TIMES/YEAR. CONTRACTED BCBA, EDUCATIONAL STRATEGISTS & SUPERVISOR. • LASARD CONFERENCE • STATE DEPARTMENT OF ED. TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS • VARIOUS WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE STATE

DISTRICT PROGRAM BINDER EACH TEACHER HAS ONE • CONTENTS INCLUDE: • MISSION STATEMENT • LA QUALITY INDICATORS FOR SCHOOLS & USERS GUIDE • CURRICULUM GUIDES • DISCRETE TRIAL FORMS • PROFESSIONAL JOURNAL ARTICLES • BOOKS & WEBSITES • CONTINUING EDUCATION, WORKSHOPS, AND INSERVICES ATTENDED BY TEACHERS & PARAS

  5. MISSION STATEMENT THE RAPIDES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISM. IN ORDER TO FULFILL THIS COMMITMENT, A SPECIALIZED TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS HAS BEEN FORMED TO PROMOTE THE USE OF EVIDENCE-BASED TEACHING PRACTICES IN THE CLASSROOM. THE TEAM WILL COLLABORATE WITH ADMINISTRATORS, EDUCATORS, AND PARENTS TO ENSURE THAT EACH STUDENT’S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IS CONSISTENT WITH THE LA. AUTISM QUALITY INDICATORS FOR SCHOOLS RECOMMENDED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THESE INDICATORS INCLUDE: ENVIRONMENT, COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION, BEHAVIOR, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, INCLUSIVE PRACTICE AND TRANSITION.
