She has released three EP's and an album under 10 Summers Records: Time, Change, and Ready. Her biggest single to date is "Boo'd Up," peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ella Mai self-titled debut album released on the 12th of October, 2018.

  4. What inspired this song? I think that most of the time in R&B music, it hurts a lot about what someone is doing wrong with you, but in most cases, we are not talking about the fact that we are doing something wrong. For someone to do the wrong thing, someone must do the wrong thing, right? Or there must be a person who does the faulty item if that makes sense. So, I decided to put myself in these places, because we are all people. And I need time to admit when I'm wrong. I won't lie. I can tell you when I'm right, it's effortless, but I have to come to this, and it takes me some time, so I thought I wanted to write a song about how to know how to apologize and how to say how "This is kind of bad. Perhaps I rethought the situation or created something in my head that didn't exist," and I think that we all experience such situations, this is how it happened.

  5. How did the song come about? "Trip" - it was not a conscious effort to be like: "My God, we need to undress," you see? Like, let's get back to the basics, but that was definitely what I wanted to do anyway. It wasn't like: "Okay, we have to do it," because I feel that it's not enough, I think that most of the time when you work. You already have a rhythm or something in it sort of; it controls where you go melodiously and stuff like that, but working with chords, you have a lot more room to move around, so I just wanted to have a place where I could go. So, we started from scratch. It was nearing the end of the album process, and we wanted to make material based only on chords. We liked three or four songs on the album,
