Objectives • To refine the program details developed in the Canberra workshop (including projects to deliver key end-user driven outputs) • To map the projects to (end-user driven) outputs, usage and impacts (benefits) - identify key milestones for delivery and take-up (usage) of outputs and timeline for benefit delivery • WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO: • Wednesday March 31st • Send completed disciplines required and program on a page (POP) slides to Michelle (michelle.farrugia@sppconsulting.com.au ) and cc both Graham (g.wise@griffith.edu.au ) and Holli (h.evans@griffith.edu.au ) • [Note: funding and participants sections have deliberately been removed as this information is not required for next week] • Tuesday April 6th • Complete and send remaining slides including to Michelle, Graham and Holli (having reviewed with Michelle over phone during previous week) • Thursday April 8th (Melbourne workshop) • Present your Program including POP, LOS and usage

  3. INITIAL VIEW, DISCUSSED AT WORKSHOP An initial view of the CRC research outputs has been identified The following outlines an initial view of outputs identified as relevant by the ASC. The research projects must be designed to deliver key outputs required by end-users. SPORT CRC We will determine why, where and how Australian should invest in sport in order to drive better health, social, community and successful sport outcomes Vision: Programs: Research outputs: DEFINITIONS: Approach: Ideas or actions to assist with program design System: Underlying structure which can be used to deliver a program Source: SPP analysis.

  4. Summary of the 3 programs following the Canberra workshop Teams identified likely projects within each program to meet the articulated end-user outputs. Program coordinators, please review and if any changes are required please make these on slide 5. Developing new sport systems Roll-out and assessment of new sport systems Understanding how to harness human potential Stimulation of demand for sport Mechanisms to increase physical and mental health Understanding participation – quantitative and qualitative auditing of participation in sport and sport systems Mechanisms to increase community wellness Meeting sport infrastructure demands Understanding the limitations to participation – identifying best practices and system failings Mechanisms to increase economic benefits Creating systems to meet changing demands for sport (integration) Understanding the value proposition of new sport systems Mechanisms to contribute to local/national identity Approaches and systems for sport capacity building MF note: The above projects are all about measuring impact – There needs to be a project on roll out it this is to happen in program 3 (based on previous programs systems will not be designed around health, community well being or economic benefits – rollout needs to be separate) CHECK!  Are the projects conveyed in a manner which can be understood by a lay person?  Are the projects aligned with the goals of the CRC and the needs of the end-user organisations identified? A multidisciplinary approach is required to deliver the desired research outputs • Identify the key disciplines/research fields which the CRC will need in order to deliver the desired (end-user driven) research outputs for Program 1. Some possibilities have been included below. Consider: Which of these are nice to have and which must we have? Delete any disciplines which are not relevant to this program. • Source: SPP approach. + Complete by Mar 31st • CHECK!! – Are all the required disciplines represented? If the problem would benefit from input from additional disciplines then seek additional CRC partners with these skills

  6. Program 1 summary (POP): Understanding how to harness human potential Summarise the key elements of the program on this template. INTERIM PROGRAM LEADERS: Cliff and Keith BRIEF PROGRAM GOALS: • Understanding the factors which influence involvement in sport • To clarify the new social/cultural principles that will be needed to design new systems for sport and drive a more effective sport value chain Complete by Mar 31st Source: SPP approach.

  7. Program line of sight (LOS): Understanding how to harness human potential Summarise the key elements of the program on this template. PROGRAM LEADER: Complete by Apr 6th CHECK!! - - For each project is there a clear line of sight from the research activities to the end-users who will utilise them to deliver a benefit (if this cannot be demonstrated then the project is not consistent with the goals of the CRC program) Source: SPP approach.

  8. Program benefits: Understanding how to harness human potential Benefits must be mapped back to specific outputs and end-users for each program. Benefits can be monetary or non-monetary. Copy slide if additional space is required.
