Bilgaon Micro-Hydel Project Summary Info • Located in Bilgaon, Maharashtra. • Purpose: - Provide electricity to two tribal villages (Bilgaon + Maal) - Tribal belt of Narmada valley above submergence area. • Main Benefits - 191 unelectrified adivasi households in Bilgaon. - 1 Ashramshala (residential school) holding 300 students. - Can be extended to Maal village having 160 households. • Added Benefits - Employment (10 jobs). - Community controlled grinding units. - Easier access to drinking water for womenfolk.

  3. Bilgaon Micro-Hydel Project Power Project Sizing • Power Projects classification • Small (1-10 MW) • Mini (100kw-1MW) • Micro (<100kw) • Micro-hydel in India • Estimated potential 15,000 MW. Only 240 MW utilized. • Ideal for hilly areas. Less cost/environmental damage. • Bilgaon: Simultaneous Max estimate 13MW. Designed for 15MW

Alternate Energy Dept. Unlikely. • Bijli Samithi General Council represents households. • Village Elder’s committee. Any divisions etc? • Project Implementation Agency (PIA).

Bilgaon Micro-Hydel Project Current Status of Project Work • Bilgaon meeting held on Mar 21. • Work begun:Turbine & Control Panel (2mo) • Procuring Generator in Bangalore. • Shram Daan Starts 2nd week of April. 1.5 months X 40 people. All households. • Notably, “shraam daan” would save Rs. 60,000 @minimum wage (approx $1250)
