  1. FORD FIGO REVIEW – AUTOX Launched back in 2016, Ford has updated its mid-size hatch in the form of a mid-life makeover. As a matter of fact, Ford claims over 1,200 changes over the previous model. In past times, the Figo has done some sales wonders for the American automaker. And in all fairness, the Figo had an excellent suspension, great driving feel, it was aggressively priced and people who bought it – enjoyed their time behind the wheel. The 2019 Figo promises to continue the tradition. Read on our Ford Figo review to find out. As far as the design is concerned, the overall silhouette of the 2019 edition remains more or less identical to the previous model. However, the Figo gets some cosmetic updates to the exterior. In our Ford Figo review, we got hands on the Titanium Blu variant – the current top-spec variant of the Figo. There are few decals that add a layer of sportiness to the cabin, the bumpers are redesigned and unlike the Aspire, there are blue inserts on the bumper in places of chrome. The Blu edition also comes with gloss-black 15-inch alloy wheels, roof and side indicators. Inside the cabin, I quite appreciated the all-black layout of the dashboard, which is a rare find in our beige-obsessed market. There are neon blue highlights inside the cabin – there are blue plastic inserts on the door pads and contrast blue stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel and the front seats. There’s a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen that takes up the centre stage, although it misses out on Ford’s latest SYNC3 system, it also does away with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity features. On the safety front, dual airbags and ABS are standard across the range, with the Titanium Blu variant getting six airbags and ABS.

  2. At the heart of the matter, the Figo comes with two petrol and one diesel engine options. In our time drafting the Figo review, we drove the manuals. First up is the diesel – a 1.5-litre mill that pushes out 99bhp and 215Nm of torque. Out on the tarmac, the Figo rides extremely well and the stability at three-digit speeds is just immaculate. The steering weighs up decently and the feedback is just surreal, just as we come to expect from a Ford. Second, we tested the Dragon! Yes, it’s the 1.2-litre three-cylinder dragon petrol motor that propels in the Freestyle and the Aspire. And in the Figo, it just blew me away. There’s loads of torque, it responds fantastically quick to throttle inputs and it is genuinely fun to drive. To sum it up, the Figo makes a strong case for itself, and it probably is the most fun-to-drive hatch in the segment.
