Remote Learning Activities for Refugee Novel - April 20-24, 2020

In this set of remote learning activities, students engage with the novel "Refugee" by Alan Gratz. Daily tasks include reading designated chapters, completing form assignments, and reviewing Greek/Latin roots. Assignments are to be submitted on time via TEAMS. Missing assignments will be marked in PowerSchool. A structured schedule for each day is provided along with links to the novel PDF and audio. Students are urged to stay on track, adhere to due dates, and communicate any concerns to Mrs. Becker for support.

  2. Remote Learning can be overwhelming! Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns • Students please follow the schedule that is posted each day in the power point. Assignments are clearly marked and have due dates. If a due date does not work on a specific day, then reach out or try to complete your work by the end of the week. • Assignments will be recorded in PowerSchool the day that they are due. • Assignments will be recorded as “Missing” if they are not submitted on the due date. Missing icon will remain in PowerSchool until the assignment has been completed.

  3. Week of April 20th-Remote Learning • You are ready to start your week. The link to the book and the audio is provided on the next slide. • Assignments are broken down for each day of the week • You will need to work on Assignments in order now that we are starting the book. • Pay attention to due dates! • Be sure to submit work when completed in TEAMS.

Tuesday, April 21, 2020 ELA-Mrs. Becker • Review Unit 10 Greek/Latin ppt.-PowerPoint will introduce this week’s roots. • Unit 10 ppt can be found in TEAMS and on the webpage under downloads • A copy of Unit 10 Root words can be found in TEAMS and on the webpage under downloads • Once you have reviewed the words then complete- the Greek and Latin Forms Assignment in TEAMS • There are two forms to complete: • Unit 10 “Carry On” and Unit 10 G/L Practice • Due Wednesday

  7. Wednesday, April 22, 2020 ELA-Mrs. Becker • Read Chapters 4-6 of Refugee (pages 18-33) • Then complete the form assignment in TEAMS on Ch. 4-6 • Due Thursday

  8. Thursday, April 23, 2020 ELA-Mrs. Becker • Read Chapters 7-9 of Refugee (pages 34-55) • Then complete the form assignment in TEAMS on Ch. 7-9 • Due Friday

  9. Friday, April 24, 2020 ELA-Mrs. Becker • Today should be used to complete any missing work in any of your classes. You completed week three of remote learning. Be sure to check power school throughout the week.
