  2. Apple TV In The Classroom – The New Interactive White Board

  3. What is Apple TV? Apple TV is actually a device you connect to your tv that allows you to use a computer to control what is seen on the tv. You can use a MAC, PC, Ipad, or any Apple I-device to direct the tv. What you see on your computer, you will see on the tv screen.

  4. How can it be used in the classroom? *I-device mirroring *Sharing student work and examples *App sharing *Music and Video Streaming *Showing graphics associated with learning *As an Interactive Whiteboard replacement * Mirroring

  5. Advantages of the Apple TV *Teacher can move about the room while using it. *Can display any student's I-device screen *Easy to pass I-device to a student for student interaction

  6. Drawbacks of Apple TV Cons - wall space/floor space - learning a new technology - search time for APPS

  7. Early Childhood Apple TV allows teachers to show what is happening live on and I-device. Shifflet, Toledo, and Mattoon found that using touch tablets in the preschool classroom leads to cooperation, collaboration, digital citizenship, and connections to the real world. These discoveries become even wider and varied when the tablet is connected to the Apple TV so more students are able to view and take part in the learning.

  8. Elementary Apple TV in the elementary classroom allows teachers to utilize I-device technology that students are already familiar with from their personal lives. Using I-pads students have access to interactive textbooks that allow students to experiment, define unknown words, and provide examples of learning through video and web links. With the addition of AppleTV, students can share their learning with the entire class through mirroring their devices.

  9. Middle/High School The most common use of the Apple TV in an upper level classroom is iPad screen mirroring. The AirPlay Apps allows the iPad 2 and above and the iPhone 4S to wirelessly display your device’s screen on a HDTV/Projector that is connected to your Apple TV.
