NWACC Outcomes • Students employ a variety of sources to locate, evaluate, and use information. • Students develop effective oral communication skills. • Students will develop “soft skills” important to their lifetime success and will demonstrate professional behavior in their classroom interaction with others and in their approach to work and assignments.

  3. Course outcomes • Knowledge of self and students to the context of the school. • We worked on communicating with teachers from Leverett Elementary and building relationships. • We pushed ourselves to make a quality presentation and came to know that we are each very capable individuals. • Review practical issues related to the teaching profession. • We learned to work together and be dependable. • We learned the importance of attitudes and professionalism.

  4. Teamwork • We based the content of our project on Arkansas state standards of third grade science frameworks. • Connie maintained contact with Mrs. Bowman at Leverett Elementary to help set up our presentation to her class. She also did a lot of research on rocks and minerals. • Lily worked on the aesthetic appeal of our presentation as well as providing important information on the rocks and minerals. • Amber helped to transfer our map onto a larger scale model and collected information on the rocks and minerals.

What We Learned • The importance of communication and teamwork. • The 5 natural divisions in Arkansas: Ozark Plateaus, West Gulf Coastal Plain, Mississippi River Alluvial Plain, Ouachita Mountains, and Arkansas Valley. • Five rocks and minerals native to Arkansas: Diamond, Bauxite, Quartz Crystal, Novaculite, and Bromine.
