  2. What is this drug and what does it look like? • Can be rose gray, brown, black or a fine white powder at its purest form • Heroin is an ILLEGAL drug How is this drug used? • Heroin can be: • Injected • Smoked • Sniffed This is a plant called opium poppy and its used to make heroin 

  3. How do you get access to this drug? This drug is sold illegally on the streets in certain areas because, of course, the drug dealers have to hide from the police.

  4. What are the effects? Long term effects: • Bad teeth • Inflammation of the gums • Cold sweats • Itching • Weakening of the immune system • Coma • Breathing illness • Muscular weakness (hard time walking) Short Term Effects: • “Rush” (a kind of sensation that lasts for a few min.) • Slowed breathing • Nausea & vomiting • Sedation & drowsiness Another short term effect is: • Coma or death (overdose) Withdrawal effects: • Extreme physical and mental symptoms • Restless • Aches and pains in bones • Diarrhea • Vomiting • Severe discomfort
