  4. Back Ground info • Federal system- A government system in which power is divided between the states and the federal government. • AAHHH What is a State? What is a Country? • What is a county? What is a city? • Why do you think we might want to divide the power of government between different governments?

  5. Lets fold some paper! • Take the paper given to you and fold it into three sections. Hamburger way. • You can do it.

  6. Ch. 6 • The Executive Branch (President) • Proposes laws. • Enforces the laws. • Commands the armed forces. • Makes treaties. • Appoints ambassadors and other officials. • Conducts foreign policy.

  7. Ch.6 • Legislative Branch • Writes the laws. • Confirms presidential appointments. • Approves treaties. • Grants money to pay for laws and military. • Declares war.

  8. Ch.6 • Judicial Branch. • Interprets the Constitution and other laws. • Reviews lower-courts decisions.
