Abstract: 20th century art containing shapes that simplify shapes of real objects to emphasize form instead of subject matter Realistic: images are shown exactly as they appear Still life: painting or drawing of inanimate (nonmoving) objects Portrait: image of a person, especially of the face or upper body Landscape: painting or drawing in which natural land scenery, such as mountains, trees, rivers, or lakes, is the main feature.

Assignment-Styles of Art Mobile • Overview: A mobile is a type of kinetic sculpture that consists of a number of rods, from which weighted objects or further rods hang. • Objective: Demonstrate your knowledge of the styles of art by creating a “Styles of Art Mobile” • Directions: • Groups of five • Strand directions: • One mobile strand per style of art • Each person is responsible for creating one strand • Each strand must have a title identifying the style of art • Use a notecard • Each strand must RESTATE the definition of the style of art in your own words! • Use a notecard • Each strand must have two images that illustrate the style • Due in 20 mins
