A comprehensive project with five levels of writing activities to enhance English language skills. Each level covers different language points and includes exercises to improve writing proficiency. Implementing guidelines provided for primary and intermediate stages.

What is the project about? • It consists of five levels. The levels are sequenced and graded in terms of the complexity of language used and follow a process of recognition, practice and production. • Levels 1 to 4 deal with certain language points.
Level one It consists mainly of… • Articles, pronouns, Prepositions, subject / verb agreement (verb to be), present simple(part one) and possessive adjectives • Sentence completion. • Reordering scrambled words to form sentences. • Punctuating sentences. • Using subject / verb agreement sentences appropriately. • Writing short paragraphs.
Level 1 Articles
Level Two It consists of using… • Regular and irregular plural nouns. • There is / there are in meaningful sentences. • Present continuous • Contractions • Writing paragraphs
Sample Level 2 3- Present Progressive
Level Three It consists of … • Adverbs of frequency. • Present simple: Third person singular. • Negative statements with: Verb to be and other verbs • Writing paragraphs
Level Four It consists of … • Adverbs of time. • Past simple: (regular / irregular verbs) (Verb to be) • Possessive case (people) • Object pronouns • Writing paragraphs
Level Five Descriptive Writing • describing, telling about an object, a place. What does it look and feel like, write so your reader can see, picture in your mind. It consists of… • Reading short paragraphs • Parallel / Guided writing • Paragrah Writing
Tips for implementationPrimary Stage (Grades 3,4 & 5) • Start the first three days of the second semester with the R.W.A. program. ( Adjustment Period) * Divide the class into homogenous groups. • Apply the R.W.A during the SKILLS DEVELOPMENT period. • Start with level one, select the appropriate activities according to the students’ level. • Follow the same order in the index. • Teach only one grammatical point in the same period.
Tips for implementationPrimary Stage(Grades 3,4 & 5) (Cont’d) • Allow students to do the follow-up activities individually to give the teacher clear feedback about the student’s progress. • Provide students with positive feedback about their work. • Some of the tasks could be given as homework. • You can use any of the activities that match the target S.C • All the work should be kept in a file or a notebook.
Tips for implementationIntermediate Stage (Grades 6& 7) • Start the first three days of the second semester with the R.W.A. program. (Adjustment Period). • Divide the class into homogenous groups. • Apply the R.W.A in one of the double periods. • Start with level one. Select the activities that most suit the students’ level. • Follow the same order in the index.
Tips for implementationIntermediate Stage(Grades 6 & 7) (Cont’d) • Allow students to do the follow-up activities individually to get clear feedback about how much improvement has been on the part of students. • Provide students with positive feedback about their work. • Some of the tasks could be given as homework. • You can use any of the activities that match the target S.C • All the work should be kept in a file or a notebook.
General Tips • Teachers should obviously prepare lesson plans for writing activities. • The activities should focus on the following specific competences 4.1 and 4.2. • No assessment tools should be used. • No vocabulary should be introduced. • No activities based on thinking skills. • Only grammar

H.O.D’s Role Heads of departments are kindly required to: • hand out a copy of the R.W.A to every teacher. • hold a meeting with the staff members to discuss the remedial writing activities with them. ( How and when to be implemented) • visit all the classes in the first three days ( grades 3,4 and 5) / (grades 6 & 7) to follow the application of the program. • check the daily lesson plan to make sure the teachers are on the right track. • Check the students’ progress, especially the low achievers.
