  1. Grab paper materials & returned work & begin the Do Now 6/5 Do Now • Consider the following plan China is implementing in order to decrease GHG emissions: China has decided to shut down coal plants mainly used to produce electricity across China and are replacing the burning of coal with solar energy. Use prognostication to explain why other countries should follow this same plan (what are the long term effects of this plan? How will we benefit from this plan’s impact?)

  2. Final Product: Model UN Learning Target: I can describe physical processes that result in the emission of green house gases I can argue for/defend current emission plans set in place to reduce greenhouse gas emissions Today’s Checkpoints: • Complete Peer Review • Complete arguments and organize final product materials

  3. Prognostication • What’s happening/what’s your country doing? • What’s the effect/impact/benefit?

  4. Check Point 1: Individual work time: 40 min • In Google docs begin typing up your first draft • Check that you have the proper formatting • Times New Roman font, 12pt size • Proper heading (Name, Chemistry, Crew Teacher) • Title • Cite sources

  5. Check Point 2: Peer Review Peer work time: 10 min • Trade, grade, and explain: read a peer’s paper thus far and complete the peer review protocol Questions to consider while reviewing… • Are you convinced by your peer’s argument?

  6. Check Point 3: Self-assessment Individual Work Time: 10 min • Print your first draft out • Using the peer review protocol rubric, grade your draft using the rubric. Literally circle what grade you believe you deserve at this point in time. On the side, jot down why you believe that is the grade you deserve. • When finished attach the peer review protocol to the FRONT of your draft and submit to Ms. Herndon • Share your essay with Ms. Herndon in Google docs! Question to consider… • Did you cite your sources? • Are you persuaded by your own argument? • Does your analysis include any of the following? • How might the world benefit from what your country is doing? • PROGNOSTICATION • Does your country have any proof that what they do works?
