  1. URINARY SYSTEM 01 MESONEPHROS: This is a section of the mesonephros from a 41/2 week human embryo. Identify the INTRAEMBRYONIC COELOM (4), GLOMERULUS (5), MESONEPHRIC REDGE (6), AND MESONEPHRIC DUCT AND MESONEPHRIC TUBULE.

  2. URINARY SYSTEM 02 MESONEPHROS: This is a high power photomicrograph of the region shown in slide #1. Identify the same structures.

  3. URINARY SYSTEM 03 ABDOMINAL CAVITY: from a 51/2 week embryo. Recognize and identify the STOMACH (8), MIDGUT (7), DORSAL (4), and VENTRAL (9), PANCREAS, the MESONEPHROS (6), GENITAL RIGE (5), and the developing METANEPHROS.

  4. URINARY SYSTEM 04 10 WEEK FETAL KINEY: identify the SUPRARENAL GLAND RENAL CORTEX, RENAL PELVIS, MAJOR CALYX and MINOR CALYX.

  5. URINARY SYSTEM 05 Identify the suprarenal gland and metanephros at 9 weeks, 11 weeks and 13 weeks of development.

  6. URINARY SYSTEM 06 RENAL AGENESIS: Recognize characteristic features of oligohydramnios and the small abdomen.

  7. URINARY SYSTEM 07 This infant also exhibited the effects of oligohydramnios but not the distended abdomen associated with polycystic kidney.

  8. URINARY SYSTEM 08 Abdominal cavity from infant with renal agenesis.

  9. URINARY SYSTEM 09 POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY: Note the small thorax, large abdomen and potters facies.

  10. URINARY SYSTEM 10 Abdominal cavity of infant with polycystic kidney.

  11. URINARY SYSTEM 11 Internal structure and cysts associated with infantile polycystic kidney.

  12. URINARY SYSTEM 12 This is an example of juvenile polycystic kidney. Differentiate between infantile and juvenile polycystic kidney disease.

  13. URINARY SYSTEM 13 This is an extreme example of juvenile polycystic kidney.

  14. URINARY SYSTEM 14 "PANCAKE" KIDNEY. This defect arises due to midline fusion of the metanephric cap. Why doesn't this kidney ascend?

  15. URINARY SYSTEM 15 What is the location of the kidney shown in this radiogram?

  16. URINARY SYSTEM 16 Recognize obstruction of the ureter.

  17. URINARY SYSTEM 17 Identify hydronephros and hydroureter following ureter obstruction.

  18. URINARY SYSTEM 18 Identify a ureteric diverticulum.

  19. URINARY SYSTEM 19 Recognize ectopia vesicae. What structure is protruding through the anterior abdominal wall?

  20. URINARY SYSTEM 20 Diagnose the condition known as "prune belly". What defects are usually associated with this abnormality?

  21. URINARY SYSTEM 21 Recognize epispadius. How might this condition arise?
