Life after Hitler • After the war, Riefenstahl was arrested, but later not charged with anything regarding the Nazi’s. • Unfortunately for the aspiring director, Leni’s connections with Hitler left her best work, and herself, blacklisted and hated by the rest of the world. • Even her documentary on the 1936 Olympics, which was later honored as one of the best films in the world (1956), was condemned because of her background. • It would be years until she would begin directing and producing films again.

  8. Underwater Adventures At 71, Leni’s next big step was attending a diving course that allowed her to capture the underwater world. She published and was honored for her two illustrated books: Korallengärten(1978)und WunderunterWasser(1990). In 2002, Riefenstahl released a documentary called ImpressionenunterWasser. At 100, she was recognized as the world’s oldest scuba diver.
