  3. The Republic of Bulgaria is situated in Southeast Europe, in the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. Bulgaria borders Romania to the north, Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west, and Greece andTurkey to the south. Its east coast line is washed by The Black Sea.The population of the country is at about 8 million people and the capital city of Bulgaria is Sofia. Gorna Oryahovitsa

  4. Our town, Gorna Oryahovitsa, is situated in the centre of North Bulgaria, in Veliko Tarnovo Province. Gorna Oryahovitsa

  5. In the Republic of Bulgaria primary and middle school education is compulsory for all students from 7 to 16 years old, whereas high school education is not mandatory.The process of education is organized as follows:

  6. Our town is the administrative and economic centre of Gorna Oryahovitsa Municipality. The city is situated along the river Yantra, not far from the town of Veliko Tarnovo. The population of Gorna Oryahovitsa is at about 35 000 inhabitants and the town takes the second place in the area after Veliko Tarnovo. The railway station of Gorna Oryahovitsa is an important railway junction of the northern railway network in Bulgaria. Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport is in the vicinity of the town.

  7. There are 10 schools in thetown. One of them is well known as prestigious and for its students achievements - Mihaylo Vasilievich Lomonosov Vocational High School of Electronics and Electrotechnics.

Mihaylo Vasilievich Lomonosov Vocational High School of Electronics and Electrotechnics has been awarded the Order Of Cyril And Methodius /awarded to Bulgarian and foreign citizens and organizations for merit in sciences/culture/information/. The school is associated with UNESCO, a member of the Organisation of the United Schools, a part of the UN.

  10. In our school we do various international activities in The United Nations Club, UNESCO Club, Bagatur Club, Friends of Germany Club. Every year many students and teachers from our school visit the Youth Professional Centre in the town of Varen, Germany and take part in European Week. Our students represent our school and our town at seminars and international forums, organized by UNESCO and UN Agency in Bulgaria, take part in national competitions and olympiads. Our school is the only school with a Career Centre providing consultations for students and their parents. 80% of our students continue their studies at universities.

Telecommunication systems The profession provides the students with opportunity to gain and acquire basic knowledge and personal skills for professional development in the field of telecommunications. The professional has been designed in accordance with a project under Phare programmeand is in compliance with the European requirements and the requirements of the Bulgarian employers.

  13. In this profession only the students have the possibility to learn the following modules: - telecommunication networks and systems; - microprocessor systems; - data transmission and computer communications; - wireless telecommunications; - alarm systems; - Business communications.

  14. System ProgrammingThe profession provides the necessary knowledge and competences required by the Bulgarian computer and software industry in the field of IT. In this profession only the students have the possibility to learn the following modules: - computer design; - visual programming; - computer network administering; - internet programming; - organization and technologyof software production.

  15. Electrical InstallationsThe profession provides the students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and competence in order to be able to perform activities related to designing, manufacturing, wiring, maintenance. The professional has been designed in accord with a project under Phare programme and is in compliance with the European requirements and the requirements of the Bulgarian employers. In this profession only the students have the possibility to learn the following modules: - business communications; - technical foreign language; - electrical installations in buildings; - electric light and public users installations.

  16. Electrical Engineering The profession is full of responsibilities and requires high competence therefore it is respectful and well-supported financially. It prepares specialists(technicians) for the needs of our power industry. In this profession only the students have possibility to learn the following subjects: • Management; • technical foreign language; • IT; • electrical power stations and substations facilities; • electrical power station and network design.

  17. Computer technics andtechnology The profession provides the students with necessary knowledge and competence needed for the maintenance of computers and computer networks. The professional has been designed in accord with a project under. Phare programme and is in compliance with the European requirements and the requirements of the Bulgarian employers. In this profession only the students have the possibility to learn the following modules: • PC assembling ; • software and operation systems; • Processors; • Printers; • LAN and WAN networks.

  18. Computer Networks The profession provides the students with the necessary knowledge of computer networks administering, internet programming , organization and technology of software production, teamwork skills and skills for variable conditions work. After finishing school the students have the skills to wire, install and manage LANs, connect them to the internet (Intranet) and install the necessary software through the following technological order and settings of computer systems and networks, to apply knowledge of computer network designing.

  19. Renewable Power Sources The profession provides the necessary knowledge and competences in the field of power production. In the future the production of power will be concentrated predominately in using renewable power sources. The power strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria demands that a large percentage of power production come from these sources. In this profession only the students have the possibility to learn the following modules: • wind facilities and equipment and installations; • hydro kinetic equipment and installations; • solar heating installations; • photovoltaic systems.
