4. What is animal cruelty? Passive Lack of attention
Starvation
Dehydration
Parasite infestation
Allowing collar to grow into the animals skin
Inadequate shelter
Failure to seek veterinary care when the animal is in need Active When a person deliberately and intentionally causes harm to an animal

Animal fighting and puppy mills are also considered active cruelty.
5. Why is it important to report animal cruelty?
6. Studies have shown strong links between animal cruelty and domestic violence, child abuse and violent crimes.
7. Four million cats and dogs-about one every eight seconds-are put down in U.S. shelters each year.
8. Often these animals are offspring of cherished family pets.
9. Here at Hialeah Gardens Middle School we are committed to educating our Students, Staff & Community on Raising Awareness on Animal Cruelty & Neglect!!
10. Spaying & Neutering is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them. Mrs. Knowles our Media Specialist with her adopted pup “Bella”. This is one of our rescued pups by HGMS Staff & Students.
11. If you see someone hurting an animal or you see an animal that looks sick, injured or deprived of food, water, shelter or veterinary care please call 311. You can give your name or remain anonymous.
