I wrote it for a database that I developed for DaimlerChrysler’s Powertrain group in order to track test vehicles. The target audience for the piece included administrative assistants throughout the Powertrain group, some of whom had little experience with databases. Technical Writing: Powertrain Vehicle Inventory Manual Excerpt • Finding Vehicles Assigned to Any Department • From the Main Menu, select "Search All Department’s Vehicles (View Only).” • The All Departments’ Vehicles – Search Screen will appear. Select any vehicle characteristics that you want to search for using the pull-down menus. In the example below, we’re looking for a 300M on order (ORDR). Note: The * is the wild card character. All fields default to it on the search screen, except for the Status field. The Status field defaults to ACTV (Active). • Click the Search button at the bottom of the screen. The Vehicle Information screen will appear. All vehicles that match your search criteria will be available. In this example, only one vehicle matches our criteria, as shown in the Record Navigator. If there were more than one record that matched, we could browse through them using the first four arrows on the Record Navigator.

Whether you are troubleshooting a CAN-bus-related problem or developing a new module for a CAN bus, CAN-Spy can prove invaluable. While CAN-Spy can transmit and display CAN messages, its real time-saving characteristic is its ability to scale and display the recorded data in engineering units with text names. Tedious manual scaling and conversions are things of the past. The tool can be used in a standalone mode or can be configured using a PC. CAN-Spy messages are capable of linking to real-world analog and digital I/O via a DB-25 connector for real-time stimulus and measurement. For the graphic element at the top of the page, I used Photoshop to combine a stock photo of a keyboard, a schematic, and a picture of an employee. I also created the accent graphic on the right of the page

For the graphic element at the top of the page, I used Photoshop to combine an abstract rendition of a circuit board with a photo of a Jeep Liberty.

Web Development: Programming Programming for DGE Recruiting Division’s Applicant Skill Level Test After working with engineers to develop the questions, I scripted an online quiz, using ASP, to evaluate applicant's software engineering capabilities. The results were available to recruiters via a secure site.

9. Graphic Design: Logos Future Logo for DGE Electronics Division I used Illustrator to create the logo below for DGE's new electronics division. It combines the legacy logo from the parent company with a green flourish to add interest. Logo for Detroit Engineering Center I designed the logo below using Visio. At the time, it was the only vector imaging software available at the Center. Logo for William Kissel & Associates Engineering The three logos below were designed as proposals for an Engineering Management consulting firm.
