  1. BETTER SERVANTS OF GOD “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift” (Eph. 4:7)

  2. The Vastness of the Gift • Spurgeon’s story of the care giver. • Our gift, really gifts, go far beyond this story. • Physical characteristics – eye color, receding hair line, immune system, etc. We have little choice. • Service gifts – eloquence, voice, heart, friendliness. Natural talents can be honed, but there will always be some things we can’t do. Others we do well.

  3. Use Your Gift • Christians Anonymous? • You are part of God’s family, God’s Cause. • Bless Him with your gift. • It’s not just for your enjoyment, but for your employment. It’s a tool, not a toy. • “If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important” (Gal. 6:3 NLT).

  4. Identifying Your Gift • What do you enjoy doing? What would disappoint you if you couldn’t do it? • Rom. 12:3-8 • Dorcas – Acts 9:36, “Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha…; this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity which she continually did.” • Was she a “one talent person”?

  5. Principles to Enhance Our Talents • Desire – Do you want to be better greeter, singer, prayer… • Discovery – Listen for feedback on your work. • Development – “Stir up the gift…” 2 Tim. 1:6 • Dependence – On God – “I can do all things thru Him…” Phil. 4:13 • Deployment – You are a gifted child of God. So is everyone else. Work together – I Cor. 12.

  6. Reasons to Serve • It’s the right thing to do – Eph. 2:10; I Pet. 4:10 • It’s what Jesus expects us to do – Luke 10:37. • Good people help people. • Godly people help people. • Saved people serve people. “I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. So for my part I am eager…I am not ashamed” (Romans 1:14-16).
