Mahindra to Release its New Alturas SUV on Nov. 24 Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian conglomerate that holds stronghold in the automotive industry is finally ready with the launchpad to introduce its new Alturas SUV in the nation on 24th November this year. The introduction of this latest SUV from the house was postponed to the above date from 19th November. The Alturas SUV will be the company’s new & next flagship variant for the local market. Going by the looks and market reports this latest model from the maker is based on SsangYong Rexton SUV, which is the latest generation SUV and will be placed above the Mahindra’s XUV500 in Indian line-up. The SUV has a new design but on the grille part again it has looks of the Mahindra family with minor modifications on the body. The SUV displays a tough body-on-frame build up, same as its forerunners. Though in the past, multiple assumptions were made regarding the name M & M at the last confirmed it as ‘Alturas’, which connotes ‘heights’. Speaking about the Alturas G4 Veejay Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, M&M Ltd. said, “The word Alturas means ‘height’ or ‘pinnacle’. The Alturas G4 represents a gateway into the luxury for those who have reached the pinnacle of success in their lives. Being our most luxurious offering, exquisitely designed and crafted, we believe that the Alturas G4 name perfectly describes this product.” This much-anticipated SUV once it reaches the Indian market will be at loggerheads with the well- established SUVs such as the Ford Endeavour, the Toyota Fortuner and also probably the latest offspring on the Indian roads: updated Isuzu MU-X. The company is all set to release the Mahindra Alturas SUV in 2 models – a low-end G2 trim which will accompany 2WD and a 4WD model-g4, the fully-loaded model. The Alturas will get its power from a 2.2-liter diesel engine that is good for 180.5hp & 450Nm of torque. Whilst a manual gearbox will not be offered, the Mahindra’s Alturas will have a sole Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox with manual shifting.

The SUV will have a 244mm ground clearance in addition to a 5.5m turning circle which is a good sign for off-road drives as said by service engineer of Automotive Mahindra, one of the oldest Mahindra dealers that deal with both passenger and commercial vehicles from the Mahindra house. And coming to specifications Mahindra’s high-spec Alturas will hit the market loaded with a mammoth touchscreen system, Napa leather upholstery, an electronic parking brake, sunroof and ventilated seats with memory function. The company declared that the models will come competitive price and will majorly challenge the Fortuner. Pre-bookings have already begun from authorized Mahindra dealerships in Hyderabad and across other cities from 5th of this month.
