  3. ABB REG630 Solar Protection Relay • The ABB REG630 Protection Relay is a zero export protection relay often used for solar PV embedded generation. • REG630 is a comprehensive generator management relay for protection, control, measurement and supervision of small and medium-sized power generators and generator-transformer units in utility and power distribution systems. • REG630 is a member of ABB’s Relion product family and a part of its 630 product series. The 630 series relays are characterized by functional scalability and flexible configurability. REG630 has been designed to be the main protection for synchronous generators, offering full protection during start-up and normal run for both the generator and the prime mover. REG630 is typically used in small and medium-sized diesel, hydroelectric, combined heat and power (CHP), and steam power plants.

  4. ABB REG630 Solar Protection Relay • The pre-defined configuration is intended for directly connected generator sets and can either be used as such or easily tailored to application-specific requirements with freely selectable functions. • REG630 can be used in either single or double-busbar applications with one or two breakers and numerous switching devices. It also supports a substantial number of both manually and motor-operated disconnectors and earthing switches. REG630 can therefore be used to control various types of switchgears. • REG630 fully supports the IEC 61850 standard for communication in substations and covers both vertical and horizontal communication, including GOOSE messaging with both binary and analog signals. REG630 also supports the DNP3 (TCP/IP) and IEC 60870-5-103 (serial) communication protocols. The supported communication protocols, including IEC 61850, offer seamless connectivity to various station automation and SCADA systems.

  5. Why ABB? • Flexible generator protection relay for synchronous generators • Differential protection, 3rd harmonic-based stator earth-fault protection, reverse power protection and extensive interconnection protection for distributed generation • Control of two circuit breakers and a total of eight disconnectors and earthing switches • Freely configurable functionality to meet application-specific requirements • Large, integrated or detached HMI

  6. ShneiderEasergyMiCom p341 • EasergyMiCOM P341 Interconnection protection relays can be customized to meet the specific needs of the intended application. They offer complete, cost-effective and highly reliable protection for operating machines. It also includes Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) protection to optimize transmission line capacity. Gains of 50% or more can be achieved, depending on the environmental conditions, enabling more Distributed Generation (DG) such as wind farms to be connected to the grid by taking into account the real time weather conditions to calculate the line rating compared to using the fixed summer/winter line ratings. DLR is a cost effective alternative to reinforcing overhead lines to increase capacity and there are also benefits to the wind farm owner in that higher revenues can be made with a higher line rating.

  7. ShneiderEasergyMiCom p341 • Extensive multi-functions and user-friendly logic • Multi-function relay range ensures flexible, reliable integration of protection, control, monitoring and measurements for a wide variety of system applications • Users can create complex protection schemes by using EasergyMiCOM’s powerful, user-friendly logic • Quality choice of industry standard protocols are available, facilitating integration into both new and existing network control systems • Flexible communications and cost-effective solutions • EasergyMiCOM relay family’s extensive protection functions meet the requirements for most interconnection and DLR protection applications and provide them with cost-effective solutions and offers flexible communications options • Latest communication protocols & Ethernet Redundancy (available now in P341)

  8. ShneiderEasergyMiCom p341 • Fully Equipped with the latest communications protocols (IEC61850 Ed1 & Ed2 available in the same device, selection by setting) • Maximum availability and reliability of Ethernet communications thanks to the implementation of PRP/HSR standard redundancy protocols with an instantaneous recovery time in case of network failure • Dual IP address allows the device to be connected to 2 independent communication networks (e.g, SCADA system network & Maintenance network) • Universal IRIG-B input (automatically detects modulated or unmodulated signal) • Major enhancement to Cybersecurity • Operational & Cyber Security, compliant to IEC 62351, helps protect installations with security based on embedded features such as Role Based Access Control (RBAC), Port Hardening, Security Logs and Access Traceability. The IED by default includes RBAC with different users defined and a Security Administrator.

  9. Fanox SIL-G • Protection functions available in SIL-G are the following: • 81R, 78, 81 U/O, 27P, 32/40, 59P, 59N, 25, 79, 50P, 50N/G, 67P, 67N, 46, 79, 50BF, 52, 49, 86,CLP, 49T, 74TCS, 37 and IRIG-B • Monitors differences in voltage magnitudes, phase angles, and frequencies to perform synchronism checks across the circuit breaker, can be coordinated with the auto-reclose function (up to five recloses) • Used with auxiliary power supply (110-230 Vac/ 90-300 Vdc and optionally 24-48 Vdc) • Two rear ports on the back for remote communication • Two communication protocols can be used simultaneously: MODBUS RTU and IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 61850, DNP 3.0 or IEC 60870-5-104

  14. ZED Relays • Inverter Control/Solar PV Production • The ZED devices communicate with the inverter via three (3) protocols, the choice of protocol is dependent on specific inverter compatibility. These protocols are 4 or 6 bit binary and RS 485 protocols. The 4 bit binary provides 16 levels of solar PV production between 0 and 100%. The 6 bit binary provides 64 levels of solar PV production between 0 and 100%. • RS 485 provides solar PV production in 1% increments.

  15. ZED Relays • 2.1 Compatible Inverters • There is a range of inverters that are compatible with the ZED family of devices can manage Solar PV production and deliver Zero Export.Inverters which can be controlled via 4 or 6 bit binary will require a management card supplied by the manufacturer of the inverter; these are often referred to as Power Control Modules, Power Management Units, Data Managers or controllers.Inverters that have RS 485/Modbus connection are managed via inverter specific protocols.Inverter performance and compatibility with the ZED family has been validated by GNT Engineering. • To date a number of inverters have been validated by GNT Engineering and are managing Zero Export solutions for 3 phase and single phase installations.
