  2. Rationale for program • 28 credits required for graduation • 30 students between junior & senior status • 26 students between sophomore & junior status • Credit recovery would allow students to make up lost credits and graduate on time.

Budget • 25 PLATO slots $26,002.75 • Less cost of vocational contribution $9,000 • Cost of 4 teachers-$50 per evening x 123 days • During the day some slots will be used by a special education class and GED program • Alternative Education also uses during the day lst semester • GED uses 10 slots in evening program • Total Cost to HBOE $23,152.75

  4. Overview • Available to sophomores, juniors & seniors who need to recover credit for failed courses. • Preference given to seniors, then juniors, etc. • The program is not to be used for acceleration of students.

  6. Synopsis of Program • Allows students to complete course requirements more rapidly, recover credits, regain self-confidence and graduate on time. • Learning is self-paced and put in real-world context and coupled with offline activities and Internet resources that reinforce learning in areas of greatest weakness.

  7. Courses Offered • English 9-12 • U. S. Studies • World History • 20-21st Century • Geography • CATS 9, 10 • Biology • Chemistry • Applied Math I, II • Algebra I, II

  8. 1st Semester Schedule • Monday-English • Tuesday-Social Studies • Wednesday-Math • Thursday-Science 3:30-6:00 p.m. October 22, 2007-January 14, 2008 In Hampshire High library computer lab

  9. Expectations • To earn a credit, a student must • Successfully complete all modules • Document 45 contact hours If both tasks are not completed by the end of the first semester, credit will be forfeited.

  10. Tuition • None for Hampshire County students

  11. Attendance • A total of 45 hours is required to receive credit for the class. • Students must attend each night of the course in which they are enrolled. • Students may attend other evenings of their choice, as space permits.

  12. Behavior • ALL regular school policies are in effect for the credit recovery sessions. • Any disruption of the credit recovery program due to a discipline infraction will result in the student being removed from the program.

  13. Additional Information • One break will be given during the evening. • Students are to remain in the library computer lab. • At the end of each session, all students are to leave campus promptly. • The activity buses are available and will pull out at 6 p.m. each evening.

  14. Program Update • 15 students enrolled in evening program as of second week • 38 PLATO seats being used • 24 students enrolled in lst semester day credit recovery • 16 students enrolled in day GED • 10 students enrolled in evening GED

  15. Future Plans • Summer School Credit Recovery • $250-$300 per student for each credit earned
