  4. The Reasons for Seasons • When the Northern Hemisphere tilts toward the Sun, it is summer. • When the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the Sun, it is winter.

  5. The Reasons for Seasons • The solar angle affects the amount of energy that is being received by different parts of Earth. • The solar angle changes because of the tilt of Earth and its revolution around the Sun. • If the angle is greater, that place is receiving more energy.

  6. The Reasons for Seasons • Summer days are longer. • More hours of sunshine transfer more energy resulting in warmer temperatures.
