  2. Linkage Status of Marathi Wordnet • (Total Synsets): 24146 • (Linked Synsets): 20501 • (Total unique words): 32739

  3. Issues • Following types of problems are faced while linking Hindi synsets to Marathi synsets • Pragmatic Gap • POS category change

  4. Pragmatic Gap (Noun category) • Sometime to define sizes, we need to take help word छोटा, मोठा etc. Hindi synset • तौनी, तई, तवी - छोटा तवा "गीता तौनी पर रोटी सेंक रही है“ Marathi synset • छोटा तवा(chotaatavaa)– आकाराने छोटा असलेला तवा “गीता छोट्या तव्यावर चपाती भाजत आहे.” Hindi sysnset • झरना  - अनाज आदि छानने की एक प्रकार की चौकोर बड़ी छलनी   "वह झरने से जौ छान रही है" Marathi synset • मोठीचाळणी (motheechaalanee)- धान्य इत्यादी चाळण्याची एक प्रकारची मोठी चाळणी "तो मोठ्या चाळणीने जव चाळत आहे."

Pragmatic Gap (Adjective category) Hindi synset गंधकी  - गंधक के रंग का या हल्के पीले रंग का    "शीला गंधकी साड़ी पहनी है" Marathi synset • हलका पिवळ्या रंगाचा(halka pivalyaa rangacha)- हलका पिवळा रंग असलेला“शीलाने हलक्या पिवळ्या रंगाची साडी नेसली आहे.” Hindi synset मूँगिया  - मूँग के से रंग का  "रहमान के गले में एक मूँगिया गमछा लटक रहा है“ Marathi synset • मुगाच्या रंगाचा(mugaachyaa rangachaa)– मुगाच्या रंगासारखा “रेहमानच्या गळ्यात एक मुगाच्या रंगाचा पंचा लटकत आहे”

  6. Pragmatic Gap (Adverb category) Hindi sysnset बेआराम  - बिना आराम किए    "वह लगातार बेआराम काम करता रहता है" • Marathi synset आराम न करता(aaraam nakarataa) - आराम न करता "त्याने आराम न करता सलग काम केले."

  7. Pragmatic Gap (Verb category) • Verb Hindi Synset • खिलवाना, खेलवाना  - खेलाने का काम दूसरे से कराना   "सीता बच्चे को पिताजी से खिलवा रही है" Marathi Synset • खेळवूनघेणे (khaelvun ghene)- खेळवण्याचे काम दुसर्‍याकडून करवून घेणे “सीता मुलाला वडिलांकडून खेळवून घेते."

  8. POS Category Change • Hindi sysnset फुफिया, फुफेरा, फुफीआउत - फूफा या बुआ के विचार से सम्बद्ध "विमला के फुफिया ससुर आये हुए हैं" ममेरा, ममिया, ममिआउत  - मामा या मामी के विचार से सम्बद्ध   "मेरी ममेरी सास दिल्ली में रहती हैं" • Marathi sysnset आते (aate)– आत्याकडून संबंधित असलेला “विमलाचे आतेसासरे आले आहेत.” मामे(maame) - मामाकडून असलेल्या संबंधाचा "माझी मामेसासू दिल्लीत राहते." The corresponding word is आते, is a nominal categoryMarathi, for this फुफिया adjective concept. Like आतेसासरे, मामेसासू etc.

  9. Exact mapping of word not possible • Adjective कठखोदवा, कठफोड़वा, कठ खोदवा, कठ फोड़वा - काठ को खोदने या फोड़ने वाला "कठखोदवा पक्षी के सिर पर एक कलगी होती है जिससे वह काठ या लकड़ी खोदता है“ In Marathi we use सुतार पक्षी.

  10. Language Specific Synsets • So far we have 60 Marathi LSS. • Food -13 • Ornaments - 05 • Dance - 03 • Game - 05 • Clothing items- 05 • Cultrual - 21 • Material – 02 • Others - 06

Food भाकरी,भाकर (bhaakaree, bhakar) - जोंधळा, बाजरीइत्यादीच्या पिठाचे हाताने थापून भाजून केलेली एक प्रकारचा खाद्यपदार्थ "ज्वारीचीभाकरीमलाखूपआवडते.“ (a roti of jawar, bajara) झुणका (zunkaa) -  हरभर्‍याच्या डाळीच्या पिठाचे केलेला घट्ट खाद्य पदार्थ -"मला झुणका भाकरी खूप आवडते."” (besan based wet mix )

  12. Ornaments • पुतळी माळ, पुतळी ( putali Mal, putali) - गोल चपट्या नाण्यांप्रमाणेअसणा-या चकत्या एकत्र गुंफून बनविलेली माळ – “आईने दिलेली पुतळी माळ मी अजून सांभाळून ठेवली आहे.” (A necklace of Rounded flat coins) • कोल्हापुरी साज ( kolhapuri saaj)– मासा, कमळ, कारले, चंद्र, बालपान, शंख, नाग, कासव, भुंगा अशी पदके तारेने समोरासमोर जोडून मध्यभागी लोलक असलेला हार (a traditional necklaces of Kolhapur in Maharashtra )

  13. Dance • तमाशा(tamashaa) -महाराष्ट्रातील एक लोककला "गावाच्या जत्रेत तमाशा सादर होणार आहे." (A folkdance of Maharashtra) • कोळीनृत्य(kolinyutya)- कोळी जातीतीललोकांचे पारंपारिक नृत्य - "ह्यानृत्यानंतरकोळीनृत्यसादरकेलेजाईल." (Traditional dance of fishermen caste)

  14. Game • झिम्मा(Zimmaa)- मुली एकमेकींकडे तोंडे करून उभ्या राहून परस्परांच्या पंज्यांवर पंजे मारून खेळतात तो एक खेळ - : "मला झिम्म्याची खूप गाणी पाठ आहेत.“ (a Maharashtrian play, in that, girls stand facing  each other and play by beating their hands .) • बसफुगडी ( basphugadi) – बसून घालायच्या फुगडीचा खेळ – “आज आम्ही बसफुगडी खेळून दमलो.” (a player keeps moving with bent knees)

  15. Clothing • नऊवारी (Nauvaaree) - नऊवार लांब असलेली साडी - "सीमाने पूजेत नऊवारी नेसली होती." Nine meter long saari
