They can: • Limit target access through target privileges • Limit access to features through system privileges • Facilitate the further granting of privileges and roles • Be made up of: • System privileges • Targets • Target privileges • Other roles

Managing Target Subtabs • Customize Grid Control target subtabs to match your division of system responsibility.
Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface • The Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface (EM CLI) provides text-based access to the Grid Control functionality. It provides: • Integration with third-party or custom software via scripting • Management Repository data extraction for manipulation and reporting purposes • The EM CLI consists of two components: • EM CLI Client • EM CLI Oracle Management Service Extension
Setting Up the EM CLI • To set up EM CLI, perform the following steps: • Obtain the EM CLI kit from Oracle Technology Network (OTN). • Set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to ensure that it is part of your PATH. • Install the EM CLI Management Services Extension on the OMS machine. • Install the EM CLI Client on any machine on your network. • Run the “setup” verb from the EM CLI Client.
Summary • In this lesson, you should have learned how to: • Create roles • Create administrators • Grant privileges • Set up preferred credentials • Describe the steps to set up Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface (EM CLI)
Practice 7 Overview: Configuring Grid Control • This practice covers the following topics: • Creating Roles • Creating Administrators • Setting Preferred Credentials • Customizing Target Subtabs
