  1. About brainstorming

  2. Todo • Decide on scenario/task/question (not the solution) • Brainstorm & build

  3. Brainstorm: Rule 1 • The basic rule in all brainstorms is that criticism is absolutely forbidden! • Criticism is bad for creativity. Get all ideas out first – evaluation should be done afterwards.

  4. Rule 2 • Don’t keep ideas to yourself. All ideas have to get out in the open – the whole point of the brainstorm is that ideas should lead to new ideas.

  5. Note • Don’t be afraid of ”silly” ideas • Most brainstorms follow a similar pattern: • expected and not very surprising ideas. • more unexpected things. • a more “silly” stage with lots of joking, but this should not be discouraged since it is often here you can get the unexpected association which solves everything • hard to get new ideas it can be suitable with a short pause before a final effort.

  6. Possible starting point • The brainstorm can be started by the participants agreeing on the ”basic solution” for this product. The ”basic solution” is the idea, product or method that solves the problem in the most simple & cheap way. An example would be a bucket of water for a fire extinguisher. The point of the “basic solution” is to define the problem clearly for all the participants in the session.

  7. Have fun!
