Prof. PhDr. Iveta Radičová PhD. • Politologist, sociologist, NGO, social politics, MPSVaR, Roma situation, Oxford & Co • 2009 for President 44 % • SDKU - personal responsibility of citizens CONTRA State paternalism (SMER), Moskow • As no party member she occured on the election list of SDKÚ-DS and received at most prefferal votes.

  4. Fall of the government in Oct. 2011, (vote for cofidence and mutual financial support of EU states, Greece)

  5. Women in Parliament TODAY Election 2012 • Total registered candidates 2 967, 778 women = 26,2 %. • 200 hundred more women then in 2010 election • Elected 24 women out of 150 = 16%

  7. Preferential VOTING • 59,1 % voters  • v SDKÚ-DS L. Žitňanská (66,5 %) Minister of Justice moved in front of the party leader Dzurindu (17,5 %). • Europe – women ¼, • in Slovakia ženy – women 1/6

  8. PREFERAL depends... In other parties: • SDKÚ-DS : 79 % of all voters of this party • OĽaNO (a new populistic party): 34 % • KDH: 21 %

  9. WOMEN VOTE WOMEN • Menvotedwomen: 29 %, • Womenvotedwomen: 42 %. • Highereducation, biggercities, younger • Thefallofthe prime minister „Radičovej efekt“: • – lostof IR • – criticalopinionofwomen´sabilities • – lesspreferentilavoting (2010)

Regional • Number of women rises SLOWLY • 2001 – 51 women (12,7 % of local governments) • 2005 – 59 women (14,3 %) • 2009 – 63 women (15,4%). • In all elections 4 - 5 % lower then their % on the candidates lists = more harder work, less money, more women No mayor, no chief of a regional parliament, (no other positions looked at) OmbudsMAN,

  11. ACTIONS TAKEN • NGO Forum of Women 2 000 • Campaign of NGO Option of Choice 2 002 • Feministic publishing house ASPEKT before election to EUP in 2004 – Women Experts • EWL50 /50 Campaign – No Democracy Without Gender Equality (ONLY 1 woman MP signed)
