  1. Keeping your S t a i r l i f t I n G o o d Wo r k i n g C o n d i t i o n Don’t ignore the need for routine stairlift maintenance. This is a device to help increase mobility and to reduce the risk of falls. Keeping it working like it should will ensure it can last a very long time. It will also reduce the chances of expensive repairs or the need to completely replace it with a new one. When you get yours installed, the provider should share some feedback with you regarding the required stairlift maintenance. This includes keeping it oiled and anything else your specific brand and model needs. Put that information on your calendar so it won’t get overlooked. You don’t want to forget about it and increase the risk of problems developing because of it.

  2. Annual Inspection - All of them should be fully inspected annually. This is key to taking care of the necessary stairlift maintenance. During this inspection, a provider can let you know if they identify anything that concerns them. For example, they may tell you they recommend getting a belt replaced as it is showing signs of wear. Replacing it before it actually breaks ensures it stays operational. This annual inspection can ensure small things are successfully taken care of before they turn into major issues. You don’t want to have to do without the stairlift for a period of time because issues didn’t get noticed until they were severe. Many providers also keep a calendar and they will reach out to you around the time your annual inspection is due to remind you. Report Anything out of the Ordinary - Don’t rely solely on the annually inspection for the stairlift maintenance though. If you hear anything out of the ordinary, report it. If the device isn’t functioning like it should or you notice any odd smells, report it right away.

  3. Anything that doesn’t seem right shouldn’t be ignored. Get a professional out there to look at it immediately. Trusted Provider - Make sure you find a provider you can fully trust for your stairlift maintenance. They should have the experience, the right tools, and a crew with plenty of knowledge so they can troubleshoot problems. Find out the background of the company and the overall reputation they have for such services. Warranty Coverage - If your stairlift is under warranty, there may be specifications about who you can contact to complete the stairlift maintenance. If you contact someone else, you may have to pay for it out of your own pocket. Should the provider find anything amiss, they will need to reference your warranty before they work on it. A claim may need to be filed and approved before the work is conducted. Make sure you keep all of yoru warranty paperwork handy. This will allow you to easily reference it should you have a need to file a claim.

  4. Cost - The cost of services will vary, and you should find out in advance what they will be. If you are renting the equipment, find a provider that includes maintenance in that rental agreement at no charge. If you need to pay out of pocket, the price needs to be very reasonable. Should they find anything they are concerned about, the cost of those repairs should be discussed with you. They should never be conducted without first sharing feedback with you and information about why the repairs are deemed necessary. They should give you a quote for the price of the parts and the price of the labour involved. You should never feel pressured by any provider to proceed with repairs you aren’t financially prepared to make at that time. With a stairlift, you aren’t limited with your mobility. You still have the freedom to move around your home, businesses, and other locations where one is in place. We are happy to share our business, Associated Stairlifts with you, as a means for you to continue to be as mobile as possible. We offer a variety of products so you can find exactly what you need.
