  2. EasyWay: Overview of the project From 2001 to 2006 : Succes of TEMPO • Deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems • 7 Euro-Regions projects From 2007 to 2009 : EasyWay phase I • Based on 8 Euro-Regions • Drive along Europe with an homogeneous and continuous levels of services and security integrating new EU countries • Deploy systems and services of information and traffic management, in real-time, on the Trans-European Road Network (TERN) From 2010 to 2012 : EasyWay phase II • Together 28 EU member states and observer countries (including Norway and Switzerland) • More than 140 road operators • Harmonized deployment of management services and real-time traffic information, based on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), on the TERN • Prepare the deployment of cooperative systems (C-ITS) Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  3. From systems to services Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  4. The 8 Euro-Regions Euro-regions correspond to transport corridors • Arts • Centrico • Connect • Corvette • Ithaca • Streetwise • Serti • Viking Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  5. EasyWay figures • Total budget for the 28 Member States: € 500 million • Which € 100 million grant from the European Commission EuropeanCommission Grant 100 M€ Total Budget EW: 500 M€ Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  6. The EasyWay activities Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  7. The main goal Provide deployment guidelines for ITS services • For road managers • Taking into account external stakeholder Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  8. Organisation of the Expert & Studies Groups 6 Expert & StudiesGroups • ESG 1 – Europe-wide Traveller Information continuity and co-modality • ESG 2 – Europe-wide Traffic and Network management and co-modality • ESG 3 – Freight and Logistics services • ESG 4 – VMS Harmonisation • ESG 5 – DATEX II • ESG 6 – ICT Infrastructure Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  9. The ESG6 – ICT Infrastructure • ICT infrastructure guidelines in order to provide the ICT infrastructure for the EasyWay Core European ITS Services with sufficient quality in an optimal manner to avoid overlaps on one hand and gaps on the other hand. • Building on the results of QUANTIS, specify optimal data quality for selected services based on agreements between other EasyWay ESGs • Update the road network definition, i.e. the operating environments and provide hands-on guidance on how to utilise and it on the European, regional, and national scale • Review and discuss existing system architectures and their utilisation for the harmonised EasyWay system architecture in coordination by the EasyWay TCT • Monitor the need to act on speed limit data management based on service needs Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  10. The ESG6 – ICT Infrastructure • Study and propose utilisation and European testing of new technologies for monitoring, when and where relevant, and collect related evaluation results • Identify road operator needs and potential for utilising eventual open in-vehicle platforms as a cost-efficient channel and platform for data collection • Support and provide guidance to EasyWay study on cooperative system deployment aiming at the large scale deployment of these systems in Europe, starting with the most mature and viable systems on the EasyWay network • Support the organisation of workshops related to ICT infrastructure EasyWay phase II. • Continuity of services • Service levels for traffic centreoperations • Deployment of cooperative systems • Best practices in monitoring infrastructures Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  11. Organisation of the ESG6 – ICT Infrastructure • 9 Task Forces : • Data Quality • Operating Environments • CooperativeSystems • Deployment Guidelines • InterOperability • In-Vehicle Platform • New Monitoring Technologies • Standards • Workshop Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 25/09/12

  12. The Cooperative Systems Task Force Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 25/09/13

  13. The Cooperative Systems Task Force Some actions to conduct a Road map : • Definition of 1st priority services (7): • Hazardous location notification • Traffic jam ahead warning • Decentralised floating car data • Road works warning • Traffic information and recommended itinerary • In-vehicle signage (incl. speed management) • Automatic access control / parking management (incl. Intelligent Truck Parking) • StakeholderAnalysis: • Identify potential roles of the road operator in the operation process of selected cooperative services • describe expectations and aspirations related to the future roles and responsibilities Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  14. The Cooperative Systems Task Force Some actions to conduct a Road map : • Scenarios for the implementation of cooperative systems: • preliminary analysis on the value chain of cooperative systems and services in the respective countries of the partners • give the most likely scenarios how the first day application of cooperative systems and services could look like from today’s (2012) perspective from the experts points of view • give the most likely implementation scenario for the first priority cooperative services from the point of view of different road operators / member • Technicalmaturity of cooperativesystems: • compare the radio communication specification of the I2V and V2V communication link and interfaces • and also the pre-requisites to be fulfilled by the infrastructure and the wireless network • Functionalachitecture: • provides an introduction to creating ITS System Architectures for cooperative systems applications with the FRAME Architecture tools • demonstrates this process using the seven selected CoSy task force priority services. Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13

  15. The Cooperative Systems Task Force Some actions to conduct a Road map : • Busines case development • Selected generic aspects related to the business models were explored • The results include the scope of the business case and the objectives of the cooperative systems deployment and limitations • Closed Model (Road operator + service provider/automotive industry) VS Open Model (Road operator + service provider/automotive industry) • Cost/Benefitsanalysis • For year 2030 with 100% of vehicleconectedwith a communication device • Two bundle: V2V / V2I • Legal Issues: • in-vehiclesignage • Liability and institutional issues • Privacy and data ownership • Distraction and information overload, … Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 25/09/12

  16. The Cooperative Systems Task Force Some actions to conduct a Road map: • Shared vision EasyWay • Shared road map Cooperationwithexternalstakeholder: • European and national project : Drive C2X, SimTD, Score@f, … • Amsterdam Group • C2CC • Standardisation bodies : CEN TC 278, ISO TC 204, ETSI TC ITS • FOTsis • … Forum des Acteurs des ITS Coopératifs - 24/09/13
