Class Routines • Agenda – signed everyday by teacher and parents • Communication folder – Out on Friday, In by Monday • Homework – designated or unfinished task • Microwave Schedule (blog) – once a week • Food – refrain from pop, iced tea, heavy sugar drinks and snacks. To help keep students performing best opt for fruits, veggies, yogurt, cheese and other healthy and nutritious foods. We are a NUT FREE School.
Curriculum – Language Arts • Reading • In class program – daily sustained independent reading, occasional shared reading, weekly reading journal, book report per term, novel studies. • Home Program – Reading A-Z – students take home their level books to read several times along with comprehension questions. Teachers review with students every week during guided individual or group sessions. • Writing – weekly journal (free flow), formal writing (paragraph, heritage fair, speeches, poetry, business letter, persuasive, narrative) • Weekly Spelling – Thursday Quiz, Friday Pre-test • Grammar – twice a week – tests every 3 weeks and throughout writing assignments
Curriculum • MATHEMATICS - Math Makes Sense • Gr. 6 – Mrs. Hoover • Gr. 5 - Miss Torres • Students may receive extra help during Study Hall. • BIBLE • weekly verse every Thursday • content – ACSI Bible Gr. 5 • Chapel days – Sept 18th.

Field Trips (tentative) • Social Studies – Mayor’s Office, Ontario Legislative Building • Science – Ontario Science Center • Recreation – Fair Glen • French – La Cuisine de Ma Mere • Please let me know if you would like to assist in planning or chaperoning for these trips. Ideas for community service and other curriculum related trips are welcome!
