Performance and Academic Success Strategies (PASS) • In AY 2014, SSOM committed to enhancing its Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) • ACE & IT jointly developed tool to assist in assessment of student readiness for USMLE Step 1 • Tool needed to operate with existing data (e.g., MCATs, GPAs, grades, etc.) as predictors • Staff wanted a visual and interactive tool • Tool to be used continuously with interventions as soon as performance issues are detected

Performance and Academic Success Strategies (PASS) • PASS visualization tool • Constructed with an open source JavaScript library from available from http://d3js.org/ • Application creates a “parallel coordinates” visualization with gating controls • Queries existing student systems for appropriate variables • Performance data in temporally ordered • Reference dataset includes 998 students over 7 years
