  6. Carbohydrate Greens means take notes Role: Carbohydrate is a nutrient in starches and sugars that supplies the main source of energy to the body. Starches are found in grains and some vegetables. Sugars are found in fruits, dairy and sweet foods. Fibre is a type of carbohydrate that does not provide energy, as your body cannot digest it; however, it has a very important function in keeping the bowels regular. Carbohydrates should make up to 60% of your total kilojoules each day.

  7. Protein Greens means take notes Protein is a nutrient that builds, repairs and maintains body cells.Proteins are found in animal products and some plants, such as legumes. Protein is essential for the body as it provides some amino acids that the body cannot manufacture itself. Protein should make up to 15% of your total kilojoule intake each day.

  8. Fat Greens means take notes Fat is a nutrient that helps the growth and repair of cells, and provides energy to the body. Fats are found in animal products and some plant products, such as nuts and vegetable oils. No more than 30% of the total kilojoules consumed each day should be from fats.

  10. Vitamins Greens means take notes Vitamins are nutrients that assist in the growth and repair of body cells and includevitamin A (retinol), B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B6 (pyridoxine), B12 (cobalmin), C (ascorbic acid), D, E (tocopherol), K, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid and folate.
