  2. Practicing Lateral Thinking Let’s do a few more puzzles as a class. We’ll also work on these tomorrow. Puzzle “A woman came home with a bag of groceries, got the mail, and walked into the house. On the way to the kitchen, she went through the living room and looked at her husband, who was dead. She continued to the kitchen, put away the groceries, and made dinner calmly.”

  3. Practicing Lateral Thinking Answer “The husband died naturally some time ago; the wife was looking at his ashes in an urn on the mantelpiece.”

  4. Practicing Lateral Thinking Puzzle “A man leaves a motel room, goes to his car, gets something, honks the horn, and returns. Why has he done this?”

  5. Practicing Lateral Thinking Answer “It's the middle of the night. The man goes outside to get something from his car, but forgets which room he was in. His wife is deaf, so he honks the car horn loudly, waking up everyone else in the motel. The other residents all get up and turn on their lights, and the man returns to the one room that remains dark.”
