  2. VALUES & STANDARDS • Not trying to turn cadets into soldiers • Trying to show cadets what a military life can be like • Impart a social/ moral code that they can draw on in the future • Provide a platform for cadets to experience things that others outside the military will never experience

HOW DOES THE CCF WORK • Many strands that all interlink • Needs commitment & discipline to run effectively • Cadets need to be loyal to their commanders e.g RSM to OC or Cadet to their Sect Comdr. • Those in command roles need to keep their integrity in order to draw the respect of their peers and their colleagues. • NCOs need the courage to speak out and take command when working within their peer group.

  5. HOW DOES THE CCF WORK • OFFICERS • Training – Short courses to qualify them in all aspects of military training • Time – NOT ENOUGH. They are busy with their teaching jobs 90% of the time • They give up valuable spare time to facilitate training at weekend. • Organises Training

  6. HOW DOES THE CCF WORK • SSI • Administers the unit • Ensures all paperwork is done • All facilities are booked • Ensures all training is done safely and correctly • Is qualified to take a range of activities • Looks after stores

  7. HOW DOES THE CCF WORK • Behaviour and Attendance • Accounts • Training Programmes and Instruction • Policy • MOD systems are in place. Security, Equipment Care • Courses for Staff and Cadets • Attends most training • CAN NOT ALL BE DONE BE ONE PERSON

  9. YOUR CCF - YOUR RESPONSIBILITY • Officers are there to facilitate training and ensure safe practice • SSI takes on most of the administrative aspects of the unit and provides technical and safety support to training • You are there to train cadets • Your CCF to make OR break

  10. APPOINTMENTS & REPS • Key jobs within the CCF & Sections • Can be held by Upper or Lower 6th (and some selected 5th Form) NCOs • Work closely with Officers to make training more efficient • Provide the voice of cadets to Officers in respect of your chosen area

APPOINTMENTS • RSM or equiv. • Top cadet of the CCF, NOT YOUR SECTION • ‘Purple’ Job • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Take planning work load off Officer Commandings, in conjunction with CSMs • Ensure attendance and training registers are kept in conjunction with the SSI • Ensure a high level of turnout • Ensure training is well planned and executed • Deconfliction amongst sections

APPOINTMENTS • CSM or equiv. • Top cadet of your section • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Take planning work load off Officer Commandings, in conjunction with RSM & Pl Sgts • Ensure attendance and training registers are kept in conjunction with the RSM • Ensure a high level of turnout within the section • Ensure training is well planned and executed • Ensure instructors are allocated and lesson plans are written • Ensure everyone in your section knows what they are doing and when • Have the ability to take a step back and control

APPOINTMENTS • Pl Sgt or equiv. • In charge of approx. 3 Sections of 8 cadets • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Make sure you know who is in your Pl • Ensure attendance and training registers are kept in conjunction with the CSM • Ensure a high level of turnout within your Pl • Ensure training is well planned and executed • Ensure instructors are allocated and lesson plans are written • Ensure everyone in your section knows what they are doing and when • Have the ability to take a step back and control

APPOINTMENTS • Sect Comd or equiv. • In charge of a Section of approx. 8 cadets • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Make sure you know who is in your Section by name and where to get in contact with them • Ensure attendance and training registers are kept in conjunction with the Pl Sgt • Ensure a high level of turnout within your Section • Ensure training is well planned and executed • Ensure you are well prepared to teach a lesson if asked • Ensure everyone in your section knows what they are doing and when • Have the ability to enthuse your Section • Good Instructor and people skills • An ability to be loyal to and take orders from your peers

  17. APPOINTMENTS • Sect 2IC or equiv. • Second in Command of a Section of approx. 8 cadets • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Make sure you know who is in your Section by name and where to get in contact with them • Ensure you know exactly what the Section Commander is planning in case you need to step in • Ensure a high level of turnout within your Section • Ensure training is well planned and executed • Ensure you are well prepared to teach a lesson if asked • Ensure everyone in your section knows what they are doing and when • Have the ability to enthuse your Section • Good Instructor and people skills • An ability to be loyal to and take orders from your peers

  18. APPOINTMENTS • Company Quarter Master Sergeant (Clothing / Equipment) • In charge of an element of the CCF Stores under the SSI • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Ability to be meticulous and remember correct procedures • To be willing to attend at least one lunch time to prepare any stores required for training on a Tuesday or over the weekend • Ensure training is well planned and executed by providing Logistical support during training • Good Instructor and people skills • An understanding of the requirements for training and training aides • An ability to be loyal to and take orders from your peers

  19. APPOINTMENTS • Armoury NCO • In charge of the Armoury under the SSI • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Ability to be meticulous and remember correct procedures • To be willing to attend at least one lunch time to prepare any weapons required for training on a Tuesday or over the weekend • Ensure training is well planned and executed by providing Logistical support during training • Good Instructor and people skills • An understanding of the requirements for training and training aides • An ability to be loyal to and take orders from your peers • An interest in weapon systems and the drive to maintain clean and serviceable weapons • An understanding of security requirements and a high level of maturity

APPOINTMENTS • Ammunition NCO • In charge of the Ammunition Store under the SSI • Have pride in the job and the CCF • Ability to be meticulous and remember correct procedures • To be willing to attend at least one lunch time to prepare any Ammunition required for training on a Tuesday or over the weekend • Ensure training is well planned and executed by providing Logistical support during training • Good Instructor and people skills • An understanding of the requirements for training and training aides • An ability to be loyal to and take orders from your peers • An interest in Ammunition and accounting systems • An understanding of security requirements and a high level of maturity

SECTION REPS • To be a point of contact for both Officers and Cadets on your chosen area • Take an active role in working with the OC Sections and the SSI to plan training events involving your chosen area • Know your chosen area and the cadet training syllabus related to it • Promote your chosen area across your section

  22. EXPECTATIONS • Attend training on a regular basis • Attend regular meetings with staff • Take pride in what you do and uphold the values and standards of the Armed Forces • Keep in contact & communication • Ask if you are ever unsure

  25. A NORMAL CCF WEEK • TUESDAY - Prep for Trg & Trg • WEDNESDAY - Meeting to finalise next weeks programme. Notices out to section • THURSDAY - Instructors allocated • FRIDAY - Instructor prep • SATURDAY - Instructor prep • SUNDAY - Email to SSI/ CQMS to request kit • MONDAY - Copy of Lesson Plan to SSI for signing off. SSI to meet with RSM/ CSMs to deconflict

  26. PARADE, DRILL & TURNOUT • Always be smart on parade. • Hollow square with CSM in middle front with Sgts & above behind the main group • RSM or Duty CSM to form up parade and bring to attention

HOW TO TAKE A REGISTER & INSPECTION • Stand them to attention and then at ease • Quick and loud • Cadets should stand to attention when they speak and address you as Sir/ Maam as there is an Officer on parade • Register straight to RSM. • Ensure you are correctly and smartly dressed. Open Order, stand each rank to attention before inspecting. Go along the front and then back of each rank before moving to the next one. • This should be done efficiently but as quickly as possible. Names to be written down and handed to the RSM/ CSM.

COMPLIMENTS • You are saluting the Queen’s Commission NOT the person • Always salute an Officer before and after speaking to them or once as you are passing them. • Expect a salute back (But you may just get an acknowledgement) • Stand to attention whilst talking to an officer. • If no head dress, do not salute, just brace up • If sitting, brace up in your chair • If in a group the Senior Cadet should salute, the remainder brace up.
