Measuring success • Collaborate with headquarters, other regions, and community partners to identify existing and new environmental, economic, and social measures that can be used to evaluate and highlight community work across the agency • Utilize the EPA Community Resource Network (CRN) to highlight and promote community resources

College/underserved community partnership program • College and University Students provide technical support to underserved communities at no cost to the communities • 13 Colleges serving 22 Communities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee • From the Classroom to the Community • Provides Practical Experience for Students • Overseen by academic professors • Promotes Interagency Collaboration (federal, state and local)

Community Air Toxics studies • Memphis, TN • Received EPA Community-scale Grant in 2012 to conduct air toxics monitoring under the Reducing Exposure to Airborne Chemical Toxics (REACT) Study to assess toxics levels in the community • Monitored for VOCs in 106 census tracts in Shelby County; collected 112 samples at various sites • Data is currently being analyzed & a risk assessment will be developed by project partners at Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee at Memphis • Several stakeholder & community involvement meetings have occurred throughout the study; a meeting to present data results is scheduled for Fall 2015 Columbus, MS • Conducted air toxics monitoring in 2013 for VOCs and PAHs at the Kerr-McGee wood treatment plant (Superfund Site) and nearby Stokes-Beard Elementary School to address odor complaints for residents • A risk assessment was conducted concluding no non-cancer exposure concerns & low cancer risk levels • Study results were presented to the community in January 2015
