Jonah prays for deliverance John 16: 8 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [c]Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; NASB 1. God causes situations that bring us to repentance

Jonah prays for deliverance “In my distress I called to the Lord, From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, 4 I said, ‘I have been banished  from your sight; 5 The engulfing waters threatened me,the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’ 9 “I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.” 3. Stubborness must turn to brokenness

  11. Parents often pray for wandering children to be blessed Appropriate prayer is for a wandering person to become broken by the circumstances of life and turn to God. Pray for the “then” “that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.” How do you pray?

  13. Who do you know that is running from God? A friend? You? Are the circumstances of their current life miserable? When you pray do you pray for brokenness? When you pray do you pray for God to be glorified? What would it take for God to get the glory for rescuing the person you are praying for? Have YOU given God glory for getting you out of a miserable situation? If not, tell someone. So What?
