Answer • No Chief Executive • Approval needed by all 13 states to make changes: 1 state would have the ability to halt any changes that the other 12 states wanted to see made • No national court system: Couldn’t settle dispute among states • No power to tax citizens: Couldn’t raise money for the federal government • No power to collect debts: Couldn’t raise money for the federal government • No power to regulate trade: Led to an economic depression, led to overtaxed goods between states • No power to protect the nation: Shays rebellion, Federal government could not raise an army to stave off possible violence/riots/war

  13. Answer • All states agreed to give up their claims to western lands, due to this all 13 states agreed to the Articles of Confederation. • It broke up western lands into territories, that the government could sell in order to raise money.

  15. Answer • Explained the process of how territories can become states and enter the union. • It explained how territories were to be governed and set up public education.

  23. Answer • Created a two house legislative branch, the Senate is the Upper House and is based on equal representation. • And the House of Representatives is the Lower House, representation is based on population.
