(Found under Content) (Found under Menus) (Found under Structure) • Create/edit/delete • Link to menu • Shows: • Revision info • URL alias • Publishing info (eg to front page/make sticky) Add page (at page level) Add external link (Structure >> Add link) Categorises content Vocab = discipline Terms = O&G, Paeds Creating new (unique menu) Secondary menu – it becomes a block • Creating a menu with no active link (as per Main Menu tabs): • Create a new page with the title of the menu tab (eg About Us). This will be a blank page. • In this page check  provide a menu link. • Link title should be About Us Description = Hide • Link it to the parent (About Us) • At the Links menu section, move the menu link and assign items to it – make sure the menu link has  show as expanded • For a level 2 menu – do as per the above, but go to the menu link and paste the URL in the path Can add to a content page as a field • To find content: • Use Edit button directly on page • Type in URL/node ID in browser • Use advanced search function (you can also delete multiple pages from here by using the check box and ‘delete’) • Use web search function Creating custom types: Create via a form using fields (eg event – certain fields needed), allow file upload Page can also be displayed as a view – eg events pages – view as list Creating an external link in a menu Create a page and link it to a parent (in one step) Go to the link and paste the external URL in the Path (no need to hide the description)

(Found under Structure) (Found under Structure) (Found under Blocks) A block is a container for content that is assigned to a region on a page Is a self contained piece of content, menu or code – “boxes of content” Eg widgets, login block, search block, what’s new block, upcoming events, custom menu block • Is a module which tells the content: • Where to appear • Assigns it to a region • States how many will be in a queue (ie how many will show up) – eg how number of images in a slideshow Displays a listof something eg as a list, table, RSS feed, photo gallery Eg: upcoming events, recent articles, latest news To embed a view on a page in a region – use the block option • Examples: • Home page slideshow • Quicklinks in front page • Quicklins on students page – tell it how many links to include • Research groups & affiliates – eg 4 max • Creating a view: • Create at View level • Can appear as a page (embed in page as a block or node or stand alone page) Blocks can also be created as being dynamic, static or interactive content (eg weather updates) – this is done via a special module
